.

"F###!! Stop following me, you d### creeper!!" The blond called over his shoulder. You followed at a steady pace. Some blood leaked from your wounds and dropped down your sword. No way were you going to go back just because some kid told you to!

The blond tripped over a stick while peering over his shoulder and cussed up a storm as he fell and scrambled into the nearest bush. You stopped and stared at the shaking bush.

"..Why the h### are you still following me?! Get away!!" His eyes peered from the bush. You sighed and stared, sheathing your sword on your belt.

 "You caught me, alright?"

 "I di-did!?"

"Yes. Now take me to a prison or something already." You gestured him to continue running. The tall boy stepped out from the bush and crept onward. But then he spun around and pointed his sword at you.

"You're baiting me into a trap, aren't you?! Yo-you're one of Herobrine's henchmen, aren't you?! One of the traitors!!"

You rose your hands over your head and stepped back, facial expressions not changing any. "So what if I am? You'd still be taking me to prison, right?... Now hurry up." Surely, from prison you could request a visit with General Steve. You were known pretty well among the captains, after all. Maybe if you got to talk to the Supreme General again, he'd hear you out and let you work as some kind of double agent. The blond's hand shook, terribly confused and recovering still from all the chaos he had just narrowly escaped.

"How-how do I know you aren't just going to kill me??"

"You want my sword? Here. You can have it." You grabbed the handle of your diamond blade and stabbed into the ground before you. Then, you took a few steps back. The young man approached cautiously, his eyes trained on you. After grabbing the blade by the handle, he struggled quite a bit to yank it from the ground. At last when he did, he seemed to calm down and accept your peace offering. "Now just take me to prison already."

"Hold on one second!... I have to wait for my friends... Gotta make sure they're all alright.." Tears filled his eyes. Judging by the blood splatters on his clothes, he knew not all of them would make it.

"Hm..." Calmly, you sat down on a fallen log and looked back in the direction you had come. The young man stood there for quite some time...just staring into the foliage where he had come as well. "...What's your name?" A slip of the mind question. It was too quiet, and quite frankly you were getting bored.

"Like I'm going to tell you!! Listen, I may have your sword, but that doesn't mean I trust you--!"

"TOOOMMY!" Came a voice from the forest.

 "..Ran..?"

"TOMMY!" An even taller young man sprinted through the forest and tackled the other to the ground in his excitement. You stared at the lanky one embracing the other happily, laughing even to see he was alright. The newcomer didn't quite look human. His hands, and the veins crawling forth from them were a dark purple hue. Could be some kind of terrible potion effect, but it wasn't one you recognized. But the really odd thing were the dark purple, almost black horns sticking out of his head. His hair was long, brown, and fluffy, however, a white and black mask hid his face completely, half black and half white, tear stains drawn under the eyes with the opposing color. Other than a couple eye holes, the mask was completely smooth and expressionless.

"Ranboo!.. Oh, I'm so happy you are alright! Do you know if anyone else made it out?!"

"Tubbo should be right behind me!" Ranboo immediately responded, at last letting the other go. The masked one stood on his lenky legs and spun around. (I'm using he/him pronouns because it would be a pain to use they/them in a group setting like this, especially in 2nd POV. Sorry, I guess.) "Tubbo!!"

"I'm here!!" A smaller teen burst through the foliage in a pant, whacking uselessly at all the hostile branches. You scowled to see so many young faces. Were they... Were the humans getting so desperate to recruit teenagers now?? The shortest one had a LOT of scarring under that bushy brown hair of his, telling a greater tale than what can be told with words.

These soldiers couldn't be any older than eighteen...

The three embraced as one. Clearly, they had formed a strong bond over this war. At least they could be grateful for that at least... Not like it was much help in the long run. In a way...you were glad you never made any really close friends in this line of work... Made it a lot easier to carry on, even with all the death around you.

"Is that all of you?" You stood, asking the blond with a flat tone. The brunettes spun your way, shrieking.

"IS THAT NETHERITE ARMOR?!" Ranboo screeched, hugging his friends closer.

"WE'RE GOING TO DIE!!!" Tubbo shrieked even louder.

"Calm down, guys, she's my prisoner...I- I think." Tommy slipped out of their hug, quick to hand them some kind of reassurance. You crossed your arms and stared at them all. Surely these weren't the soldiers of the future..

 "You THINK?!?" Tubbo.

Tommy waved his hands in front of himself wildly. "W-w-well this woman was CHASING me!! And when she caught up to me she demanded I take her prisoner! I-I-I ju-just didn't know what to DO!"

Ranboo pointed a finger at the blond whilst he tilted his head. "Wait I thought you were used to being chased by women now...with all the stories you've told us." The blond's face paled immediately.

 "....Wel....well, this is different..."

"WHO THE F### ARE YOU ANYWAY?!" Tubbo with the important questions.

You uncrossed your arms and instead placed them on your hips leisurely. "Hhhh... The name's (Y/n) (L/n). Third rank. I was kidnapped by Herobrine a while ago and have been forced to work for him ever since. Just now finally got the chance to escape, and you bozos are going to escort me to prison." Pointing at the three of them with a hardened scowl. The two brunettes immediately shrunk away behind Tommy.

"Is it just me or does this feel like a trap?"

 "I know, right???"

"Hhhh... Alright.." You began by stripping off your armored shoulder pads, then your chest plates, then your arm guards, and so on until all of your shiny new armor was completely gone. Then, you rose your hands above your head, staring at them. "I have no weapons and no means of defending myself. Now you better hurry up. I'm not sure if this is the case, but I believe Herobrine might have some kind of tracker on me. Perhaps a magical one of some kind that I cannot remove. So, for every minute you slack behind could be another minute he gains on us." All three locked up by your harsh warning.

"I-I- guess we should work out the smaller details on the way!" Tommy jumped into action, prompting the others to follow. The three divided your armor amongst themselves, discarding their bloody iron ones, and prepared to get going.

"Wait.. Tommy, shouldn't we wait for Dream??"

The blond's back had already been turned to all of you. But he froze in his tracks after the name had been mentioned.

His hand clamped tightly around his new diamond sword's handle. Some of that blood still remained on his hands. Blood which was not his own. Through gritted teeth, the youngest spoke. "His real name was Clay.. and no.... He will not be joining us..." Your eyes narrowed while you stared at the sight. The boy... He was shaking. Calmly, you opened your mouth to produce some form of comfort.

"...I'm sure he was a good man..."

"H### yeah... He was the best. " Turning his head to peer over his shoulder at you, you again saw those crystal blue eyes filling with tears. "The best brother I could ask for..." He marched on ... and you were left speechless.

These teens were no cowards, nor were they chicken, or weak, or any of that!

Their hearts were as tough as nails and their bones maybe even tougher. ... To lose a sibling and march on despite it...

D###... That was the kind of determination you envied. Maybe...there still is hope for the future...

----------------------------------

"What do you mean you're not a monster?! Just look at your horns!!" To pass the boring hours by on your march to the nearest human camp, you decided to harass the masked individual. He was oddly soft and shy despite his height and decent physical build.

"I told you! I'm human!!" The oddly monster-like claws, he kept flailing around told another story. You stuck in the center of the group so they could all keep an eye on you, and Ranboo happened to be place at your right.

"Would you two quit that now?!" Tommy up front growled back to the rest of you, giving you specifically serious 'stop fighting or I will turn this bus around' vibes.

"Uhhgh." Your shoulders dropped. "I'm just curious, man. I've been out of the loop from this side of the fight for almost a year now.. Just wanted to know if they started experimenting on people to make super soldiers or something..." Scratching the inside of your ear.

"You think I'm an experiment?!!" Ranboo was equally ticked of by that comment. You rolled your eyes and shoved your hands into your pockets again. This was...not fun.

"If it helps this useless quarreling any, I can answer that question for you." Tubbo casually offered from behind, a little to the left.

 "NO!"

"UGH, YOU STUBBORN B####! IT'S NOT EVEN A D### SECRET!!!" The little one bleated.

"Tfh, fine... But only because it would be better coming out of my mouth." Ranboo aggressively crossed his arms. You tried to get a sneek peak of the side of his face, but the mask curved just enough to hide that as well. Ranboo kicked a bush before continuing. "Though I am human, I was adopted and raised by Endermen of the illahuJ tribe. These changes to me were merely adaptations my body had to make in order to survive in that place. Having a 100% Chorus Fruit diet contributed a lot to that as well!" Your mouth gaped open. The... The heck?!

"Wait, the human body can DO that?!"

"I wouldn't go around testing the limits... My tribe had to use a sacred kind of magic on me constantly just to keep me alive. One I'm not sure even other Endermen know of."

"Wow, that's...pretty cool actually." .... "So do you have any powers?" Smirking.

"Yeah, actually, I do!" Ranboo cracked a smile behind that mask too. His hands came together and, as they slowly pulled apart, a thin thread of purple tore the fabric of space open. A small but real portal formed.

 "WOOAH! Where does it lead?!"

"Why don't you stick your hand in and find out?" The masked one suggested. You were tempted to try, but the swirling abyss, plus the uneasiness these strangers still had for you, really triggered your paranoia. After all... With magic like this, your hand could be chopped off in an instant!

"Um..." You knelt down and picked up a stick. Quickly, you poked it through the swirling abyss. "Ow!" That same stick hit you in the back of the head. "Heyyy!" Dropping the stick, you growled and rubbed the back of your head. Ranboo fell into a fit of laughter in front of you. "That's some cheap trick!" You punched the masked one's shoulder as a playful form of revenge.

"The best part is that I can't control where the portals lead or in which direction they are pointed! It was as if fate itself wanted you to hit yourself! Hahaha!" Hugging himself, Ranboo continued to laugh so hard he might just fall over. Tubbo and Tommy had joined in already.

"Wait what?? How far can the portals take you??"

"The furthest I've seen one go is about fifteen feet! Not quite as useful as my Ender bros, but I've found ways to make use of it."

"Hah, oh I bet! You could slice someone's head off, EASY!" The laughing stopped. All three stared at you in sheer horror. "...Too much?"

...Maybe it would be better to wait a little while before you tainted these poor, innocent souls.

----------------------------------

If there was a tracker on you, it wasn't very good at doing its job. Because it took this little crew about a week to finally get you to a proper human prison. And when that time finally came, you sat in wait. All chained up, fancy new prison drip on, you rested your elbows on your knees in wait for the Supreme General himself.

 General Steve.

Hopefully, he was still alright. And hopefully...he wouldn't have you executed.

 That would just be stupid.
