Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

AMBROISE MANSION, COMMANDER ROOM

"Commander, I have just found some concerning information!"

Bentick turned around to find Deacon Nicolo, a man of small stature who looked like he would be blown away from the slightest wind, standing with a hurried expression, unusual to his poker face.

"Deacon, What are you doing here? Duke had ordered for you to keep eyes on Magnus and Gaines to make sure we know whatever they are scheming," Bentick lectured but was interrupted by Deacon who threw himself on Bentick, who barely felt the brunt and looked up at him with wide eyes, "Sir! I just found out that His Grace was set up by Lord Magnus and possibly the meeting with Viscount Ion was also a setup by Lord Magnus!"

Bentick was shocked to hear such an astounding news. He said in a grave voice," Tell me what you heard and saw."

Deacon reported the whole conversation without missing a beat. Bentick listened the whole conversation carefully. After listening to the whole conversation, he ordered, "Bring every available squad member here. Even if we have to turn the forest upside down, we will not stop until we have found Ambroise."

Deacon saluted and gave a firm reply," Yes, Sir!"

Soon all the members were gathered. The Vice-Commander, Orion Andris, and the Duke advisor, Dion Valis, also stood with a grave expression on their face.

"As you have heard, the whereabouts of the duke are unknown right now. We need to find His Grace as soon as possible because he may have suffered injuries. While I would have liked to take the whole squad to find His Grace, however, we can't alert our enemies about this. So, I will assign each squad a specific task."

Orion came forward with a parchment in his hand. "Squad 1 and 2 will help in the search of His Grace. Squad 3 and 4 will keep a special eye on Lord Magnus mansion and Lord Ion Mansion respectively and 5th squad will keep a watch on the mansion. Make sure that you all conceal your movements and nothing amiss is seem. Squad 1 and 2 will operate under Sir Bentick while the other three under me. Is that clear?"

"Yes, Sir!"

"Dion, you should also inform His Majesty and take care of all the affairs until His Grace return. Send a summon to Lord Barlowe. He will come with us. His Grace has been attacked as well as left in Dabria. He must be injured," Bentick said to Dion and seem to hesitate before said in hoarse voice," Be prepared for the worst."

Dion froze at hearing that and nodded with difficulty. "Take Zaya with you. That eagle is very fond of Ambroise and with her sharp, she can see very far. It will also help in bringing messages back and forth."

Bentick nodded and with a salute, left to pack all the necessary items. They needed to rescue His Grace as soon as possible as well as take revenge on all the scums who were responsible for harming the Duke.

IN AN UNKNOWN LOCATION

"Sir, Duke Ambroise Aberra has gone missing in the Dabria forest. His conditions and whereabouts are currently unknown," a man wearing a grey cloak hiding his features said.

"What is His Grace army doing right now?" the man across him said, his voice deep and able to control masses with how firm and resolute his was. He wore a thick black cloak, hiding his face and physical features.

"Commander Bentick have taken squad 1 and 2 for the search of His Grace while the rest are given task to keep a lookout on His Grace mansion, Lord Ion and Lord Magnus as well as his son."

The man nodded. "If they don't find Ambroise within the two days, we will also search for him. Until then, find all the nobles who were involved in this scheming."The man saluted. A shiver went through his spine when he sensed a murderous aura coming from the man.

"Just because I am not there anymore, to think those scums would dare harm Ambroise. I will let them know what happen when you put your hand in a lion mouth."

DABRIA FOREST

"Will you really be alright?" Ambroise asked in worry. The food was almost finished and they needed to hunt animals and collect fruits. Before, it wasn't a problem but now that he know some heinous monsters were roaming in this forest, he couldn't bear to leave his son alone but it was also dangerous for him to come along too.

"Yes, Mr. Ambroise. You have asked so many times now. You don't have to worry. I will not go anywhere," Haru assured but Ambroise was still worried, however there was also no other option. He couldn't let his son starve.

"Alright, but," Ambroise made an eye contact with Haru, crouching down, "Don't even think about going anywhere from here. Promise me."

Haru hesitated before nodding. "Yes, Mr. Ambroise."

Ambroise left, with a strict instruction of not going out no matter what. Haru sighed, Ambroise was way too overprotective but he also liked the warm feeling that bubbled up when thinking that there was someone who really cared about him.

Haru was cleaning the house, when he heard cries of help coming not far from the hut.

"Help! Please Help us! Please! Help! He_-ahhhhh!"
