He was in a dungeon. Fir was very lucky. From the basic knowledge Fir was given, he knew that monsters were hunted by adventurers in this place. This world was technologically underdeveloped. This is because this world had a substance in the atmosphere called mana.
Since the people of this world had mana, they did not focus on technology to solve their problems. Instead they relied on inventing knew spells and rune formations. Through the memories, Fir was able to understand this.
Ultimately though, the memories were only basic information that the lord of the abyss thought they should have, or they were information on places and things. Fir was able to understand this concept because it was in the former category.
This is because it was important to understand how developed and powerful magic was, and how powerful the users of this magic was. If Fir was outside of a dungeon, he would probably be just another monster to die by the users of magic.
In a dungeon though, Fir could have a chance to grow stronger and more powerful. He had a sense of urgency that combined with his natural instinct to get stronger. Luckily, growing stronger was the most important thing to the lord of the abyss.
In Fir's memories, there was info on magic, skill, bloodlines, his devour ability, contracts, affinity's, blessings and more. Fir decided to start with devour as it seemed to be the highest tier skill he had.
Superior- Devour(Unique lv1)
Devour was a extremely powerful and unique skill that allowed the user to devour bloodlines. This ability can be used to alter the course of a evolution line.
When a beast reaches max level, they evolve. This evolution is based purely off of the bloodlines of ancestors. The ability to change and select what bloodlines where used in evolution is extremely powerful in the long run.
Devour was also a unique skill. That means that nobody else in the universe has this skill. All legendary and ultimate skills were unique. There were only a few unique superior skills though.
Realizing that this skill had something to do with bloodlines, it decided to look into that part of the memories. Bloodlines were where a creature came from or what creature it was. For example, a storm dragon would have a storm dragon bloodline. A storm wyvern though, might have a bit of storm dragon in it, but it would mainly be wyvern.
One of the limits placed on the devour skill is that it can only absorb the most prevalent bloodline. The creature also had to be killed by the skill user. The good part was that when evolving, the skill user could pick a certain number of bloodlines to use for its evolution.
The number of bloodlines it could integrate was based on the skill level. Also at higher level skills the user could select what parts of the bloodline it wanted to integrate. Whether it was affinities or psychical attributes could be decided.
That was for later though. Now Fir had a basic idea of how to get stronger. Kill and eat things until it undergoes evolution. It knew that skills were important though so it decided to look at those.
Normal- Air claw(lv1), Gale steps(lv1), Enhanced Howl(lv1), Nature Growth(lv1)
Air claw was a attack skill that sent out three blades of wind to attack. This was from the Gale Wolf bloodline.
Gale steps was a movement skill that enhanced its steps with wind to make each step carry it farther and faster. This was also from the Gale Wolf bloodline.
Enhanced howl is a utility ability that scares low level prey. It can also be used to call to other wolfs. All wolfs have the howl ability, but the enhanced version is from the Dire Wolf bloodline.
Nature Growth is another utility ability that can be used to enhance the speed at which plants grow. The direction of growth is uncontrollable. This comes from the Silverback Wolf bloodline.
After looking through its own skills, Fir decided to learn more about skills in general before it went hunting.
There were five types of skills. Trained skills gained through repeating an action, inherent skills gained from a bloodline, outside source skills gained by a blessing, contract, or something else, evolved skills caused by skills reaching max level, or fused skills made from compatible skills of similar level fusing.
After that their were tiers of skills. There were legendary, ultimate, superior, extraordinary, and normal skills. Skills generally get more powerful or useful as they go up in rarity.
Although there were skills that used elements, they were not the same as magic. Magic was generally based off of what affinities you had. It was either one affinity or a combination of them. Magic was malleable though. The air claw skill for example, will only ever do the same thing. It will shoot out three wind blades from the users claw. They might vary in speed and power based on mana output, but they will still be the same general thing. If it was air magic, you could change them into air bullets or make one big slash instead of three. This is what makes magic and skills different.
Skills also take significantly less mana for a stronger result. Say you used 10 mana on the skill. You would have to use 25 mana to replicate the skill with magic to the same level of power. For psychical skills like [Swordsmanship], it takes less energy and stamina to use a sword.
You can also turn a magic into a skill if you use it enough. If you cast a tornado spell over and over again then it might become a skill called tornado. This would increase its power while lowering the cost.
After learning all of this info, Fir realized it was getting even hungrier. It was also getting bored of constantly looking through memories in order to find the info it needed.
After testing out each of its skills once, it decided to start hunting.
