My first day at my new job. I can't wait.
I step into the main entrance and the first thing I see is a receptionist with one of the brightest smiles I had ever seen.
She greeted me with a hug and the first words she told me was "Miss. Brooks, a pleasure to finally meet you! I know you are trained well in this field, but I will have to warn you about the safety measures that come along with this job. So, take these words to your grave, never trust anybody. But please get use to this environment, we will assign your first task later."
And here starts my official job as a trained assassin.
While I started walking to wherever the receptionist told me to go, I thought back on everything that had gotten me here.
I step into the new office as a twenty-three-year-old trained assassin and all I got were glares. I'm guessing not many people like new meat.
To my surprise somebody came up to me and asked "hey, I'm the manager of this hellhole, call me Gio, you must be Bianca Brooks?"
I smile and to my surprise he was toned. He wore a tight suit just showing off his muscles, with his slicked back undercut. He had distinguishable black eyes as well.
I clear my throat and say, "that's me, but call me Brooks, not many uses Bianca, well not anymore at least."
Bianca haven't heard that name in a long time. The last time came from a person that was my everything but then got involved with me.
My life is too dangerous for anyone too enter. So, my love life is non-existence.
Our society is made up of two different types of people. The types that just cower behind others and the types that risk everything just for the comfort of others.
Usually, you're born into one or the other, but the real leaders are the people that make their own, they carve their own paths. Which is admirable in this day in age. Everything is already handed down to everyone. Nothing is worked for, noting is earned.
I can't say I'm any different, but one reason I came here to work was to find the ring leader of this society. Because I want to know what pushed them to make their own paths. But I don't even know how I would even stumble on such a person.
I looked around the room too see everyone staring into my soul.
"Ah, yes let me introduce you to all these friendly looking people. Okay, the women in the corner are Ash and Lynn, if you couldn't guess their twins. Ash is hot tempered, rude and makes snap decision in seconds and if you could guess Lynn is the absolute opposite, balanced, indecisive and reserved. Pretty much the perfect pair. Interestingly enough they were both disciples of the boss. Next to them you have Elijah Yuri, code name The Blind Shooter. Nobodies seen his eyes, the day he arrived he was bruised and pretty much broken, but has come out to be one of the best. Finally, you have Leon Hawks, code name Charmer and don't try to get him to change his name I've tried multiple times. He's pretty much as you would expect, he's very open about his love life so you might want to get use to it." /
"Thank you, Gio and for everyone that is interested drinks on me after work. I guess I'll be you're partner whether you like it or not." I say trying to establish some sort of friendship.
Before I could even get settled at my desk, Leon immediately came up to me. "Brooks, right? Well, it's been awhile since we've had a fresh face, so, it's nice to meet you. How about after the drinks we head back to my place?"
I was speechless at how blunt he is but before I could add anything Ash came in and yelled "LEON! Have you finished your work I assigned to you this morning or are you too busy hitting on the new girl?"
She yanked his ear and sat him down at his desk.
I saw Lynn holding herself in the corner enclosed off to anyone else. I make my way over to her and say "your sister really is something else isn't she?"
She giggled and smiled. She added "a lot of people assume she's a little mental, so, it's always hilarious to when people come up to me and ask 'is she okay?' But really she's the optimist of the two of us, after what got us here, all my thoughts were so dark but she brought me up to who I am today. I don't know where I would be here if I didn't have my twin."
I smile and just watch Ash scold Leon about how not to hit on every single girl that walks in here.
Before I could get anymore invested in their argument, my attention is drawn Elijah.
He was wearing a form fitting suit with a black mask completely covering his eyes.
Before I know it he started walking over to me and that's when I finally noticed the scars on his neck. He used his shirt to try to cover them up but they were still noticeable.
Gio said he arrived bruised and broken, what was his back story?
"AYE! New girl, get over here, you got to show your skill level. Boss man wants to see what you can do, only god knows why he would let you in." Elijah says in a superior tone.
I mumble "I bet you deserved to be beaten up."
I walk over to him and we stand shoulder to shoulder and he whispers "you know nothing about me and you don't deserve to know anything about me. By the way I can hear everything you say."
I jolt my head toward and he just had the stupidest smirk on his scarred face.
"Wipe that dumb expression off your stupid face, Blind Boy." I say.
He chuckles and says "got it, Angel. Oh, yeah by the way I know everything about you, you're really easy to read, oh wait but I can't read because I'm Blind Boy, right?" /
How did he know my nickname?
I rack my brain over how he could've figured it out.
"Making new friends I see, yeah, Elijah's one of my best men, really happy he's been training with us since he was twelve years old."
Since he was twelve, now I'm really wondering where he came from?
He looks like he's twenty-five so, has he been here for thirteen years?
"I wouldn't say new friends, by the way why is he such a dickhead to me?"
He chuckles and says "don't worry about Elijah, he once was a lot friendlier, but you know what happens if you get your loved one involved in this line of work, so, he's kind of like another version of yourself in that sense."
"You do realize you could just ask me, I'm not deaf, Angel." He said in a degrading tone.
"Thanks, Blind Boy, your input is really important to me. But to be honest it would make life so much easier if you were deaf." I say while smiling.
He turns toward me and his expression had completely changed. "Who the hell do you think you are? I've been here for more than half of my life and you've been here two seconds. As far as I know you don't deserve to be here and I don't know what the hell Gio found in a pathetic little girl trying to make her way back home to mommy and daddy."
He yanked on my collar and pulled me up with one arm. Air becoming harder and harder to breathe. He smiled and whispers "how the hell do you ever plan to beat me, if you can't even up a fair fight," he dropped me and I stumbled down to my knees and continues "utterly pathetic."
He strides away while slamming the door behind him. Dickhead is right.
I still wonder what made him so bitter or in better words who made him bitter.
I get up to my feet and Gio was just sitting there watching. I knew that was my first test and I completely failed.
Gio had a slight smile on his face so I asked "can I please know what got him so annoying?"
He chuckles and says "you're the first assassin that has been able to get under his skin like that. When Ash and Lynn came in he was all for having the boss's disciples with us and when Leon came he personally took him under his wing. But you, you managed to get under his skin so quickly, but I do know why, you act so much like her."
He pauses and I get the chance to ask "who's her and who do I act like?"
"The only person he trust enough to show his eyes without the mask." He says.
"Should you really be telling me this? I mean he seems like a hot-headed jerk so; I would be nervous at what he does." I say while a feeling a little threated.
