Students will spend 44 months of their life in this school before graduating, but not every student stumbles upon such luck.. The first 11 months, or the 1st year, is where most of the students are forced to leave the school. This is because the 1st year students compete in the 'house wars'.
House Wars are a set of battles between each house in which only a few houses survive and the remaining students get a chance to enter the 2nd year. The students compete in terms of strength, knowledge, keenness, wittedness, and so on.
But this session is different, since only 25 students were able to pass the ceremony, or the massacre, whatever you want to call it, the houses have merged into two classes. Meaning that either the House wars will be different, or only the houses of a single class will pass, both or none of these... Now only couple of individuals know what is to occur.
"I hope all my students have understood? if you got any doubt or complaint then spill it out now"
Miss Flauros makes a huge sigh and sits down on her chair after conveying the message.
"As if we could complain after witnessing what happened at the auditorium"
A student makes that remark with a casual tone. He had a face that looked stubborn and carefree, blonde curly hair and strong ruby eyes. He had a good muscled body, and looked a bit bigger than everyone else. He likes to keep his sleeves up till elbow level, and he looks like he thinks of himself as a high and mighty person.
"Mallen Berithus.."
The Berithus family, is the second branch of the mighty warrior clan of 'Berith family'. During its golden age the Berith family served as the first line of offense for Kingdom Thievens during war times. Their vast army with their ornamental armour, which was the speciality of this family defeated countless other minor demon kingdoms and cities, and played a huge role against the humans during the Great War.
But after the Great War, the Berith family was under civil war between the two eldest brothers, Merithus Berith and Marl'leun Berith, which divided the clan into two factions/branches, Berithus and Berithium clan.
"The auditorium? oh you mean the ceremony of sacrifice? That was all fake.. no one was killed at all."
Everyone led out a huge "Kyaaa?!" after hearing Miss Flauros. The students started to look at each other left to right, until the voices started to get louder and the class submerged under the load of questions.
"Calm down everyone! The ceremony of sacrifice indeed did happen, and you even saw the bloodshed, but no one was killed. It was all a hallucination done by the school in order to reveal your true sin."
Layn then asks-
"But what happened to the students that we saw dying?"
"Oh those were not students, those were spirits that took form of the students and merged in between, they were all just acting. Those who were not able to get their sacrifice were simply thrown out of the school. And the students that you killed were all spirits, most likely..."
The class again went "Waaaaah?" until one girl raised a question in tears-
"Bu... but there was this one guy who almost killed me, I barely escaped him"
"well, not all spirits listen the instructions clearly."
And the class was once again going to shake under the roar of students, but then the bell rang.
"Alright students that's my cue, today you all can go back to your rooms and wake up early in the morning for tomorrows classes and instructions."
"..."
"phew.. that was intense. Im glad no one really died haha.."
Layn gives out a sigh
"you really thought they would kill their own people? you really are foolish."
Gen who was sitting behind Layn replied. Even though Gen called him a fool, Layn didn't mind at all. After all, why to make enemies if you can start off as friends.
"Oh Gen you are still here. We could not greet each other properly last time, so how about it? I am Layn Vassago."
Layn turns around to face Gen and moves his hand forward for greeting.
"I usually don't even look at half bloods like you, but you have caught a bit of my interest. I am Gen Gueson."
Gen clasps hands with Layn and while shaking their hands they both led out a smile, remarking the establishment of their friendship or something like that.
"Look what we got here, the renowned student shaking hands with a half-blood countryside demon."
A tall boy around the same age of Layn appears before them. He has black hair with a few stripes of grey mixed within. Button upped till his neck and a full sleeves white coat, and a gospel like book on his left hand.
"And you are?"
asks Gen while giving cold eyes. Layn was wondering if he has to stop another fight from occurring now.
"Calm down the renowned child, no need to be so cautious, I am here to greet myself too. My name is Asciente Acasca"
"Oh! my name is Layn Vassago, call me Layn"
"Nice to meet you Layn, you can call me Assen"
Both Layn and Assen shake hands with each other, but Gen did not seem to be interested in befriending him yet.
"Acasca? where have I heard about this family.."
Gen asks this question to himself but was clearly audible to the other two people around him. He was searching his vast storage of knowledge while slightly touching his chin.
"Naturally a descendent from the famous Amaymon family would not recognize small clans like that of mine. The current head of the Acasca family is one of the 13 judges of the Thievens Infernal Council if you were wondering."
Assen quickly replies after hearing Gen pondering over his origin. His tone did not change but one could guess he was mocking the other person.
"Don't be mistaken, I am not from that disgraceful, corrupt family. My name is Gen Gueson, nice to meet you Assen."
"I did not give you the permission to call me that but whatever, nice to meet you Gen."
Both Gen and Assen were shaking each other's hands with the intent of crushing the bones, while grinding their teeth, trying to smile. You can see the pressure growing around both of them, and maybe because they radiated such killing intent, another person came by-
"Oye oye, what's going on here fellas?"
"Hey you are that guy, ehhh what was your name..?"
Layn replies to the new comer, trying to remember his name.
"Its Mallen Barithus from the house of pride! are you making fun of me you country-side half blood wimp?"
His blonde curly hair quickly straightened up, making sharp chisel like shape while he was shouting at Layn. Naturally Layn did not have any kind of mockery intent, it was just how Layn was.
"Mallen Barithus, why are you here?"
"What do you mean! Cant I be part of this group!? My hair tells me that this is going to be a fine company! with me included of course."
Mallen, with his loud tone full of energy replied to Gen. After which Gen sighed.
"Welcome abroad Mallen Barithus, it would be an honour to have you here with us."
Assen shakes hands with Mallen and thus the four of them begin their long journey of friendship.
