"Appraisal," Bane whispered as he activated his skill.
It was always a good practice to appraise your enemy regardless of the scenario when you are exchanging punches.
*Race: Goblin Warrior*
But Bane's appraisal was a bit too low leveled to be of any use. All it displayed was the name of the race hiding the rest of the goblin's status.
But Bane wasn't too troubled as he was but testing it against a good target.
'Level 1 appraisal works just like a human's I guess. I would have to level it up.'
The higher the level the more information would be revealed about his target. At the current level not much of anything other than his foe's race was known.
'But it's always a good habit to use it.'
"What? Griguek! Do you seriously want to fight? It would hurt really bad you know?" the goblin spoke in a matter of fact tone.
The goblin seemed more worried than he was shocked. It wiped his cheek that had a bit of blood thanks to the blow it just received.
The goblin seemed to be pretty confident that it would win.
It gave Bane the look that 'it's still not to early to fall back'.
'It must have a high level appraisal as well. If that's the case then his assumptions about me must have been right.'
All goblins would share a similar skill tree. Bane was no different. The only differentiating factor that Bane has was the he was a 'human returnee'.
It wasn't long before Bane was born. Considering that, fighting with his stats against an old goblin must have been a mistake on his part.
'While it was true that the kicks that I was receiving earlier weren't that strong.'
'But he was probably nerfing them so that I don't get too hurt. It's the goblins we are talking about after all.'
A goblin wouldn't want their kin to be fatally injured. That means that the goblin warrior was stronger than what Bane had thought.
'But now that I am sure of that there would be no killing, I can't just back off and get beaten up.'
Going against an armed monster stronger than you, when you yourself are armless was no joke. It was basically suicide.
And more than anything Bane needed to preserve his life for the sake of his revenge.
But Bane's race was too convenient to the point that it prevented the possibility of death in the hands of his kin.
'If that's the case, I would rather get beaten up in a real battle. I am a hunter after all.'
"Let's fight and see who is stronger," Bane whispered glaring at the goblin guard in front of him as he refocused his stance.
The goblin guard too clenched onto his spear as he held it in front of it body filling up the holes.
'What level would his spear mastery would be? I guess its somewhere around 2 to 3.' Bane thought as he carefully examined the goblin's stance.
In the end it was just Bane's intuition from experience but in real life battle intuition and imaginations are lethal weapons. Not to mention that the experience he had piled up through the years.
Bane swung in arm in the direction where the guards right shoulder were. They were relatively open to attacks and if Bane's punch did connect... there was a chance that the goblin's weapon would be knocked out as well.
But as if Bane and the guard both were aware of this very fact, the goblin guard side stepped to the left avoiding the incoming punch.
But it couldn't have foretold what was to be coming next. A kick flew to his gut.
"Ack!"
The guard was only able to defend against it at the last moment breaking its momentum but it still did connect to its torso.
"Not bad griguek! Gam would definitely like you, but its still to early for you to taking over me. Keuik Keuk"
"I see, I felt the same."
Bane nodded.
He had felt it when he kicked the goblin.
He had gave it his all but it only caused him to bulge a little. There was no way he was going to win this.
But if the goblin continues to act unreasonable, then Bane would have no choice but to counter even if he gets terribly beaten up in the process.
So what, if the goblin acts like his parent? Bane couldn't let him do as he pleases.
'He hasn't really gone on the offensive yet. Things don't look to good for me.'
There was only one card that Bane had up his sleeve.
It was the limit break. But to use it he would have to get at HP 'critical red stage'.
'But in this kind of battle my SP would run out even before my HP goes into the red. So even that was hopeless.'
But Bane was a former human.
Imagination was his weapon.
And using feints was his tactic.
Bane rushed to the goblin guard again, as he continued to grill down punches into its body.
The guard while on the other hand continued to defend himself swift fully moving its spear. Sometimes he dodged while sometimes he blocked it with his spear.
"I was right. This is much better than being beaten up."
Even if Bane was clearly losing he didn't hate the progress he was making through such a battle.
He was getting more knowledge as to how goblins fight.
It was quite different than a humans. Unlike the humans they fought with their whole body as a weapon.
The spear that the guard was using wasn't being moved around by his hands alone. But it was more like the goblin's body was moving in accordance to the spear's wish.
The spear swiftly stood upright in the center, while the goblin flanged its body left and right along the spear as it defended against the rain of punches and kicks.
"Griguek"
While on the other hand compared to goblin, Bane's moves were only said to be clumsy.
He was moving like a human hunter but it didn't fit right with a goblin's body.
After all, he had evolved not too long ago and didn't know much on how to fight with it and still in the process of getting used to it.
"Griguek, but it's still getting better."
Bane felt as if the battle had just quickened his paced of getting to know his body better and he couldn't help but appreciate the goblin guard even if all it did was dodge his attacks.
*SP: 20/150*
Bane's eyes travelled to his SP meter.
'This is bad.'
Bane had promised himself that he wouldn't let himself get hungry.
When he gets hungry he somehow stops being himself anymore.
The declining SP was thus a bad sign for him.
He doesn't want to be driven in the same state as before in which he was trying to devour Silvia.
Bane stopped his charge of attacks as he stood in his place in a daze.
"Keuk KEiuuuk. Giving up already? Or should I say you held out better than I expected?"
Bane shook his head.
"No, I am sure we will continue this later on sometime. But now..."
Bane stroked his tummy.
"I am getting incredibly hungry. Is there something for me to eat?" Bane asked apologetically.
