Inside of a jaw-dropping mansion, Dalia couldn't stop walking back and forth while Martina was still unconscious. The hallway was quite huge for her as she aggressively took over the area.
However, even she was hesitant earlier to go with the stranger, Dalia took the risk for Martina. The stranger was the only one who helped them and there was not enough reason to decline his kindness.
At first glance, the stranger looked like a hot, handsome man. His body was firm like a rock in a cave and his face was cold as an iceberg in the middle of the ocean.
She then bit her lips and crossed her arms until a private nurse came out from the room where Martina was brought into.
"Excuse me!" Dalia said. Her face turned scarlet but when the nurse looked at her with a smile on her lips, everything disappeared. "W-what happened? Is she will be alright?"
The nurse shook her head in agreement. "Yes, she will be alright after getting a peaceful rest. I advise you to check her foot and change the plaster every three hours."
"Thank you so much for your hard work!" Dalia replied with excitement in her voice. As a friend, she only hoped for Martina's fast recovery.
With no hesitation, she quickly walked towards Martina's room. She was still wearing the same clothes the entire day and it didn't smell good.
Behind her back, the nurse suddenly disappeared from the area. She looked tense as her shoulders trembled out of fear.
She couldn't get the chance to decline the mansion's owner's favor in exchange for a large sum of money. To save her dying husband, she took the risk whether it was dangerous or not.
Her husband needed to be operated but due to financial shortage, the operation was delayed for a month. And when someone came out of nowhere, she willingly agreed to her husband's life.
Along her way through the long hallway, the nurse suddenly bumped into the man who offered her a deal. She then bowed her head and thanked him for everything.
She said, "T-thank you! Thank you so much for granting my greatest wish! If you need my service, please summon me anytime! I will be here to pay for your kindness."
"You don't have to worry about your husband's operation. I will pay for everything you need but in one condition," a man said.
"W-what is it? I d-don't have the right position to reject it!"
The man chuckled as he didn't expect her to be such an obedient person. Aside from money, human beings praised material things but the woman in front of him was different.
Her honesty was impressive enough for him. To repay her eagerness, the man gifted her a monthly fee for her excellent service.
But he must make at least a confidential agreement between them to avoid complications in the future.
"Keep everything as a secret. I want you to wait for my call and while waiting, work in the hospital like you used to do before and look after your husband. Do you understand?"
His glinting eyes convinced her with no reluctance. She understood it was necessarily obeyed the man who almost saved her husband from the brink of death.
From the bottom of her heart, she bowed her head in front of him and vowed to keep everything a secret. She promised to be a loyal and faithful servant until the very end.
The man took a long sigh in relief. It has been a while since he spoke to a human being. It felt great and a dream come true for him.
Before he let the nurse walk away, he took a piece of paper from his chest. It was the payment as he promised.
"Take this," he said. His face brightened when the indigent nurse accepted it wholeheartedly. "Keep everything in mind."
"Y-yes! I promise!" She replied as she quickly ran towards the door.
However, out of nowhere, she stopped running and turned around to face the stranger with a big heart. She forgot to say thank you as she didn't know when they could see each other again.
"Thank you, Mr. for everything. I would never forget your good deeds." She said as she squeezed her hands gently.
The man didn't utter a single word in return but he slightly tilted his head in response. He was dying to see Martina but he chose to remain calm as ever, especially in front of strangers like her.
Right at that moment, the man walked into Martina's room. The mansion was quite huge as it was perfect for a big, happy family yet, it was only occupied by him with housemaids and caretakers.
He enjoyed his wealthy lifestyle like it was all his possessions. Luxury cars, expensive pieces of jewelry, overrated properties, and even girls.
He thought people's trust and lives could easily buy through money but it wasn't the same as what he thought of Martina.
At first sight, she captured his heart effortlessly without showing any parts of her body. His past relationships were a mess because girls became often aggressive than he should be.
Until he found out their true intentions of him and that was to obtain all of his supposed-to-be wealth and properties owned by his half-brother.
Suddenly, the man stopped in the middle of the long hallway when he smelled a familiar scent. It has been a long while since the last time he had scented it.
He was certain it came nearby but there was something he needed to do.
He then shrugged off his shoulders when he felt there was something wrong with the hypnotizing scent. There was only one creature who possessed such fragrance–the alpha.
"Don't tell me he's ready to take away everything from me? I'd worked hard to deserve all of these things but if he comes back in our lives again, he would be the strongest man and I'll be always the second one." He said because of annoyance.
He didn't know why the alpha's scent enclosed the entire mansion but there was only one thing he'd wanted to do before it was over.
"I must take her away from him before he comes back and ruins my life again!"
