'So we aren't going to tell them?' Infy asked over their private link.
'The less they know the better. Do you think we can beat this thing?'
'no, not a chance. Hopefully, the Valtaui can help us out' Infy had been referring to the fact that the Abomination not only fed on the animals but was also consuming souls from the soul field which in return didn't allow them to enter the circle of rebirth.
The boys had always believed that the voice of the universe was passive, it was just there but here, it seemed alive and was in pain. They couldn't explain it but they felt like they were suppose to be here to fix this.
"Null what have you done!" Chris was incredulous he couldn't believe they had released that thing.
"Don't worry this will be fun, remember to Call your target" Null had also attached his laser to his suit and was firing at the same spot over and over but each time it hit it would instantly heal.
Unit 2314 had scanned the creature and they didn't know what to make of the readings. It was the biggest code 0 breach it had ever seen. Not only was it a creature of true magic it was also channelling and an enormous amount of energy. The Valtaui had already signalled its ship to fire at the creature but it had the same issue as Null, the damage would be instantly healed.
"Don't you have anything more powerful, aren't you Valtaui higher level race?" Chris was hoping the Valtaui was going to save them.
"We don't bring our powerful items into the field, as it is not safe to do so. Also, our powerful weapons would destroy the planet"
"Hey, Jania come on we need you, look at this big fella we get to fight" at Null words Jania woke up a little from her stupor and saw the Abomination and smiled.
"Yes! I bet I can do more damage than you" Jania then ran off with Kusarigama in hand to try and hack and slash the monster. The excitement of the battle had once again allowed her to transform into her berserker mode and she danced around the battlefield cutting off the smaller tentacles.
Lisa and Bolat had an opposite reaction when they look up at the creature. They both ran to the relative safety of the shuttle.
Chris was having none of it. "Bolat! Quickly get your heavy combat drone here, and use the flamethrower on that thing, Mum I need you to see if you can find any weakness or we don't be able to bring this thing down"
The two of them weren't used to taking orders but did as they were asked. Lisa studied the footage from Bolat drones while Bolat used his return spell to summon his heavy drone. He also set his light combat drone to be AI-controlled and use its flamethrower onto the target.
The heavy drone stood about 5m tall and had 6 barrels that could be moved independently and had a mixture of firing modes. Bolat had set it to fire incendiary grenades that used burning phosphorus as their fuel.
Lisa had noticed that it was draining life from the organic building and hypothesised that it was using that energy to replenish itself. Chris took in his mother advice and order Jania and Null to target any tentacles that were heading towards the buildings.
Null hadn't realised that he had been flying for a while now, it seems the secret to flight was to not think about it. Using his aerial advantage he was able to target any of the tentacles before they reached the building.
Unit 2314 had also noticed the same pattern and was aiming for the same tentacles with his energy blade. They were making progress, the tentacles seemed to be moving slower and taking longer to heal than before.
Infy worried. 'this doesn't make sense, we haven't dealt enough damage for it to be slowing down, it could always consume the souls it already possesses.'
The abomination was feinting its weakness, it was setting up a surprise attack from underneath. This would have worked except Null, Jania and unit 2314 could all see it. Null flew to be directly above the abomination and cast a full-powered push. The spell had so much force behind it it could even stun the behemoth that was the abomination.
"Everyone, you must evacuate the area immediately!" unit 2314 had broadcast his message planet-wide to all the other explorers. This suggested that the Valtaui were done playing around. Everyone used all the resources they had to make it to the shuttle as quickly as possible.
There was a mass exodus from the surface as all the other explorers also left the planet even if they were ignorant of the reasons. If a tier 2 race tells you to evacuate, you evacuate. As Null's group was leaving the atmosphere they detected 3 more Valtaui ships arriving.
Seemingly sensing the danger the Abomination sacrificed more than half of its lifeforce to teleport into orbit to be next to the new arrivals and released a massive psychically charged blast. The blast had the same properties like the one that had killed Null mother in her merge pod.
"Oh Firetruck!" Null had sensed the blast early enough that he and Infy had been able to shield their shuttle.
"Firetruck? hasn't Chris been teaching you how to swear?" Jania was amused at the little outburst but then remember the bigger picture. The blast had taken out almost 2/3rd of the fleeing ship and the council's escort ships. The 3 Valtaui ships were intact by had stopped moving the abomination had wrapped its tentacles around their shields.
The ships would move a bit and then reverse and move forward again.
"They are trapped in a time loop, we can't let that thing touch us" Infy was out of idea's he had hoped that the Valtaui could do something.
They didn't have a spell or a weapon in their arsenal that could deal with this thing.
"It is time to leave. We don't need to stay we can just jump back to the chariot" Bolat knew they had nothing that could be helpful in this situation and he believed that the council could handle things. He saw no need to risk his life fighting that thing.
"No, we set it free, we will be the ones to kill it, Chris I need your stun baton" Null was adamant that they had to deal with this problem.
"Null has a plan, everyone we need power storage crystals" requested Infy.
Once they had the Crystals they acted out their plan. In their hybrid form, the boys teleport to be next to the now smaller monster and once again used Push to move it out of orbit and back towards the ground. They had to do this quick as they were not in a vacuum suit and needed to teleport back inside the atmosphere themselves.
They had taken inspiration from unit 2317 energy weapon. They used Chris's stun baton to channel their spell Anti-field. This was the same power they used when they first met the Valtaui. It forced all the fields to return to their default state.
The abomination was held together by a collection of abnormal field combinations. Each strike from the baton would completely dismantle that section of the abomination.
'This isn't fast enough, we need to do more damage' Infy was calculating the rate of regeneration vs the amount of damage they were doing. If nothing changed they would eventually win, but nothing stay constant in battle.
Unit 2317 had identified what the Human-Angel was doing and also joined the battle. They also had a way of neutralising fields but theirs was more efficient and they were doing serious damage to the creature.
True to the nature of battle. The Abomination reacted to the new situation in a very unique way. It separated with its captured souls and life forces making a literal army of tortured soul monsters. These monsters were real constructs and weren't kept together by the fields. Neutralising the boys latest method.
Null and Infy were extremely concerned now they had millions of monsters surrounding them and not enough energy to kill them all.
They did not need to be concerned. The monsters had made a grave miscalculation, their latest move had released the 3 Valtaui ships from their time loop and allowed them to enter the atmosphere. It didn't take long for the 3 ships to open fire with a variety of weapons finally destroying the majority of tortured souls.
