Chapter 19 - The Judgement

After the information dump, The Watcher let them digest the information and let them ask as many questions as they wanted. Even some of the dwarfs asked questions as they wanted to know more about the higher races as most races didn't mix with races outside of their tier.

Infy and Null were worried, though it is near impossible to read angels body language as they are just energy. They could tell Zero was worried or hiding something important from them. They tried asking Zero about it, but they were told to wait until later.

After everyone had settled, Varr Anrak started to speak not just to the humans but to the whole ship, with The Watcher translating for the humans. "Will keep this short, but the council judgement will affect everyone on this ship and dwarven race." Varr was projecting his presence as a leader.

"The council has decided that we are to take over full responsibility for the humans but we aren't allowed to make first contact until they meet the suitable criteria. We have been granted a 10 standard years hand over period. Secondly, The Human/Angel and their associates must remain under the observation of an enforcement unit and can not be allowed to make contact with any other humans . I am sure you know what this means and that we must do our best to prepare over the next 10 years."

The dwarves looked like they had just been told their world was ending. The humans on the other hand were devastated. It was finally sinking in that they wouldn't be able to return home and that this would be their new normal.

The Watcher came to give them some context."I see you are confused, but this news is devastating for the dwarven kingdom. Normally the races of potential are protected by the full council, so no one would risk attacking them. Now the council has removed its protection which means that any race on the same tier as the dwarf will be free to attack."

Lisa and Chris were first to pick up the implications of this.

"So that means after 10 years the humans could be attacked by several tier 5 races. The Dwarfs will have to either help defend us or sacrifice us to the other races. If they choose to protect us they would be dragging themselves into a war they didn't want." Chris was now understanding why the dwarves looked so down.

"Yes, but it is even worst for the dwarves as there isn't a choice for them to make. They were assigned to be the Humans guardian when they joined the galactic community. Bolat is in the process of being groomed for the position of human ambassador. Dwarves are an incredibly honourable race and will feel duty-bound to protect the humans."

The Watcher was in awe of the council move. They had set up a situation where all sides could get what they want. They would have 10 years to study the development of Null and Infinity, while simultaneously setting up a situation where they are forced to get stronger. If at the end of 10 year period they aren't strong enough Humans as well as the twins would be taken out by a natural process. If they were strong enough then they could surely find some part of the judgement that was not followed giving them the pretext required to arrest the boys.

"So because of me, Humans and the Dwarfs are going to have to fight an unwinnable war?" asked Null, he was getting more depressed by the minute.

"We don't know if there will be a war, it's just a possibility". Lisa tried to cheer him up, but she realised there would be war as Earth would be easy picking. She knew that there was nothing she could say to Null, as his actions had led to this. She placed the blame on Zero for not training him better or at least putting a field restraint on him.

"No there will be a war and you will need to prepare for it. The 5 factions are in a constant state of war. The higher-level races are forbidden from waging war as it would be too devastating to the galaxy. Therefore the galaxy is in the middle of a large proxy war using the tier 4 and 5 races." Zero wanted them to be prepared for the worst.

"If you are so sure we will be attacked, do you know by who?" Chris knew from this training, that before any plans could be formed you needed intel. The best plans could be ruined by bad intel. He wasn't as pretentious as to think he would be making any major decisions but he still liked to keep informed.

"Null's ability to cancel the fields scared the Valtaui. They are worried that all humans might be able to develop this ability. They will send someone to attack. The Elves are old enemies of the Dwarfs and attacking the Humans will make good strategic sense. Then there are the Demons that have attacked earth before for reasons unknown". The Watcher was clueless of the dread he was instilling into the humans, who had yet to accept this new reality.

While this was happening Infy and Null mental state was starting to spiral. The ramification of their actions kept getting more real. They started to wonder if it was better if they weren't around.

"Zero, if we turned ourselves over to the council or the Valtaui, do you believe we could change their judgement? We will accept death if that is what it will take to save the human race" Infy asked over their private link.

"No Infinity, they are using your action as a justification but these actions would have happened soon or later. They would have found another trigger. There is a reason they are monitoring the humans so closely." Zero knew this wasn't true but was trying to calm the twins down. The bell had already been rung and could not be unrung. The council knew that humans had the potential to become true magi.

The Watcher wasn't looking forward to his next task. They had to explain to both Null and Infinity that they had been recalled to the Angel world sinelux until the next conclave was convened. What The Watcher didn't explain was that sinelux was a prison world and is where all the fallen angels go until judgement could be cast down at the next conclave meeting.

Angel's sense of time was different to that of humans, so the next conclave might not be for 1000's of years. The Watcher knew that it was unlikely he would ever see the boys again unless something drastic changes. He did have some contingency plans but they have a low probability of success.

The Watcher took the boys away from the rest of the crowd and into a private room to explain that he had to leave. As the explanation continued it only exacerbated the already dark mood of the boys.

The mental state of twins began to align more and more. This mental state triggered Null and Infy to transform into their hybrid form. Null now had a visual black Halo and a set of black wings which he used to wrap around himself.

The Watcher was shocked. 'Wait, he is a seraph? But that doesn't make sense. Angel choir is decided by their original race and the starter angel for Infinity used an ophanim structure. Does this mean the Seraphim were original humans?' they had so many questions but no way of getting answers.

Surprisingly Jania was the first to react she ran into the room. "What going on? All I can hear is crying in my head" she looked over to the corner and could see Null wrapped in a cacoon made from his black energy wings. She then stormed over to Zero. "Did you do this?" honestly she didn't understand her actions. All she could think about when looking at Null in his current state was that she needed to protect him.

'Interesting, it seems that Infinity and Null might have accidentally imprinted her' The Watcher suspected that they had accidentally used a soul ability. Imprint programming was a soul ability that could be used by spiritually sensitive people. It would imprint a positive image of the programmer onto the recipient soul.

"I suspect that Zero just informed them that he had to leave." Said Lisa as she walked over to the three of them. "there would be some consequences for your actions. Given the information dump earlier it was clear you weren't going to be staying, but why can't you take him with you?"

"Honestly I can't tell you but the council will not risk them getting access to Angel technology and knowledge. I believe the council is currently divided but if given a reason I don't think they would hesitate to eliminate them"

"No! They wouldn't dare they are just kids!" yelled Jania.

The Watcher wasn't the best with soul abilities but they still had some talent. They tried to remove the imprint that they had assumed was placed on the young girl. They were unable to find any imprint to remove. 'humans are odd. It seems she has naturally bonded with them over the last few days.'
