Chapter 23 - First Floor Conquered!

The cries of the rats below resounded on his ears. It is a grating noise which makes him frown whenever he hears it.

[Would you like to upgrade (Burned Old Floor with Holes)?]

[(Burned Old Floor with Holes) upgraded to (Old Floor)]

The sound of their agonies suddenly vanishes as the floor instantly repairs itself. Only the muffled squeaking noises can be heard.

[Would you like to upgrade (Old Floor)?]

[(Old Floor) upgraded to (Concrete Floor)]

[Would you like to upgrade (Concrete Floor)?]

[(Concrete Floor) upgraded to (Thick Concrete Floor)]

After doing that, he finally felt satisfied with it.

The poison he spreads on their nest will surely spread and kill all of them. He haven't seen any holes yet, even on the western side of this building so he thinks everything is covered.

Even if there is a rat's nest on the outside, it would be obliterated by the defense mechanisms he installed on the second floor. So nothing will really get to this building anymore.

As for fear of the poison spreading, he already made sure that it won't happen. The firebombs he shoots before closing the holes will neutralize all of those poisons.

There is a small chance the poison will be neutralized before it kills all of the monsters below, but that doesn't matter. Even if the poison didn't kill them, the flames will.

The flames made by the glass firebombs will stay for a whole week. It will surely cook them alive before they can create another hole to leave.

After he is done with all of that, he made sure to go around and install new defenses on the first floor. The Rampage Rodent destroyed most of his defenses, and he is still unsure whether the monsters are gone or there might be something out there. So this is just in case.

He didn't fear the rats anymore so until evening, he covered the whole first floor with laser turrets and wall turrets.

Thus, the day of extermination ended with his win.

"Cheers!"

He raises the cold PET bottle on the air in a festive mood, a box of mushroom pizza and pineapple pizza on the ground.

He is the only one here, but he felt like celebrating for his first ever fight on his life.

It felt exhilarating, doing something dangerous. It is scary of course, but he felt a bit excited. It's a feat that he won't have imagined doing when he was still living on New York. This is a first for him.

It's a major accomplishment. This gave him some confidence and pride within himself.

He felt like, with time, he will be brave enough to fight other threats head-on.

For now, he will be satisfied with this. Doing things carefully and generally surviving. Staying alive is important after all.

He spent his whole night just eating pizzas and repeatedly refilling his water. He have enhanced metabolism thanks to his upgrades to his body, so he can eat a lot of the pizzas.

Below the ground of this building, the poison quickly spreads, killing every mad rodents in it.

Their champion, the Rampage Rodent, has been killed and any exits has been closed. So they have no avenues of escapes.

They can only wait for their demise as the poison and the heat of flames kills them. It doesn't matter if they are some sort of monster capable of tearing people to shreds. They will die inside their nest. Their doom has been set in place.

Their dying throes is only a muffled noise on the first floor. It doesn't reach the second floor at all.

Sooner or later, all of them will die out.

Early in the morning, he goes around the first floor to complete his makeover for it. The first thing he did is repair the floors on the other rooms that he haven't visited yet. After that, he repairs the walls of each room and the general area of this floor next.

This quickly depletes him most of his upgrades, so he will do that tomorrow.

Then, another three days passes.

He took care of everything on this building. Upgrading everything for once. The walls, the ceilings, and the floors. The entrance, the windows, and even the doors were upgraded by him.

It is still not enough, and he needs four more days to take care of all of it. Still, this is satisfying. He felt so free right now.

He didn't see any monsters on the vicinity. There are no hidden monsters around, or any horrible creatures lurking on the dark. The outside is safe, though it looks like a wasteland.

For the first time ever, he felt liberated. The days where is he cooped up inside his room, waiting for the rescue will come is gone. Right now, he can protect himself with his own powers.

He truly have conquered the first floor. It is a big step for his continued survival.

"Alright. That is one goal done!" He muttered as he input a slash on one of his goals to his phone.

Then he looks forward. A smile on his face.

He knows that he is still not on the clear. The third floor is still in a great state of disrepair. There are still many unknowns on the place beyond. He also haven't found his family yet and is still stuck to this building.

Still, he can finally go outside. That's what he is truly looking for.

There is no need to get scared. He have an enhanced body that can match a speeding race car. He is also incredibly tough that he can endure temperatures that's almost the same as the surface of the sun.

It is a mystery why his clothes weren't melting when he is using the flamethrower at that time, but he shrugs it with the reason that it might be something his upgrades have done or something.

Anyway, he really hopes he can meet someone. He recently got a habit of monologuing to himself, which he knows is a bad thing psychologically.

He looks forward to his days, his eyes full of determination as he sets his goal. Looking for his family and surviving.
