"Are you okay now?"
"Yeah"
Ivan turned around to see Uziel and Samuel.
"Who are they?"
"The one on your left is Uziel, he is my disciple. The one on the right is Samuel, one of my personal knight. They will be the ones who will be with you while I'm gone"
"You... you're going somewhere?"
With the thought of the person who accepted him will go somewhere far, he began to tremble. Knowing the only person who he trust would go was scary for a mere five year old child.
"Don't worry, I will stay here for another month or so. I will only be gone for half a year, after that I will be staying here for a long time"
"Really?"
"Really"
He once again hugged me as I patted his back gently to calm him down.
Oh, he fell asleep.
"I will bring him to my room. You two, go back to work and make sure that both of you get plenty of rest"
"Yes, my lady"
After bowing once, they walked out of the room and proceeded to do their jobs after steeling their resolve.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
During that time, the townspeople and the knights teamed up together to fix the damaged buildings. Withing that time, walls were being constructed as well. Under the pretext of buying materials from merchants, the stone bricks that Almas made were put into action.
Just right after midnight, at the fourth day, Averie and some vampires arrived.
"They're here?"
"Yes. They are about to arrive"
"Hmm, you go show them around then"
"You won't greet them?"
"I still have important things to do. Besides, I am sure you miss them, I don't want to spoil something like that"
"I will"
He left coldly.
Although his tone was a bit harsh from normal perspective, he left with the end of his lips curving upwards.
Knowing him from the novel, my impression of him is truly similar to Samuel's. He was practically the version of Samuel who had a family and grew peacefully with them.
After taking a short nap, I went to the street where the vampires live along with Xavier.
"Other than sleeping and taking a bath, why are you always around me?"
"I told you that I was going to be with you so that I can judge whether we can trust you or not"
"Fine, fine"
"Wait, how come you don't have a personal guard today, my lady?"
"Do you not see that there are knights everywhere, especially when your rat is not with you? They will respond when I need help"
After entering the house, the vampires welcomed me more warmly than before. Unlike before where they shoot daggers with their eyes, this time, they were calling me 'baroness' this and 'lady' that.
Since all of the people that was killed in this town ever since I became the lord, their blood was being stored in a special tank(?) with fishes that maintains the water at a fixed temperature so that the blood would be preserved.
I don't know what kind of fishes they are but what I can tell is that they are capable of lowering the temperature as if they were eating it. As expected from a fantasy world.
The vampires were pleased that the location of their house was not somewhere too crowded and not too far from the market. This way, the children would be able to live like normal kids without having to worry about their safety since there will be a lot of vampire knights who will be in charge of this street.
Without Almas, I had to feed the prisoners by slipping their food in between the bars one by one. And because he isn't here, I can only use the door from the prison in the surface to go down since I will need Almas to open the door located under the mansion.
"You are nice"
"How am I nice exactly?"
"You could have killed us for attempting to massacre everyone here"
"That is true. But if someone did die, I would have also randomly kill one of you. But no one died, that is why I am treating you all humanely"
I won't hesitate to kill people if needed. But I can't just kill these guys just because they were trying to do something evil. I don't have any evidence that they committed such things to begin with. I only know that they are a part of an information guild that operates in between Loate and Vanifi.
"Know that if your brother, King Maxwell decides to ignore your letter, all of you will die. What I can promise you all is that I will give you all a painless death. That is all"
After giving them their share of food for the day, I went back up to the surface and make some of the vampires as knights.
In the Veit clan, there are about sixty of them which makes up of eleven families. And two of those families are here along with the two siblings.
Because of the number of those who are willing to become a knight, there were enough for them to change their shifts.
In an instant, the ones working at this station are vampires.
Whoosh.
Silver mist gathered into one spot. Almas then emerged from the accumulated mist.
-Master, this is the letter of the man named 'King Maxwell'.
I took the letter and red it while the others were busy having fun inside.
"...."
Knowing him, he should be here in less than a week at the latest.
"Almas, what do you want as a reward?"
-Stewed human liver with eyeballs.
"...."
Though I personally don't mind, it is morally disgusting.
"I will prepare it as soon as I can"
The rat squeaked happily with its innocent appearance in contrary to he eats. But I accepted it thinking that it was something 'natural' for his race.
