I turned away from the crocodile-infested lake and ran. I could hear low growls of terror from the predators who may have thought they would have a feast today. It was not their day- at least not today. I was glad I at least quenched my thirst.
Now, I had to satisfy my hunger. Which seemed hard as I didn't see anything edible on my way throughout the jungle- or maybe I was too occupied with running away from the psychopath to notice. I traced my tracks, and reached the cliff and sat down where the psychopath had hung and thought about how I got into this mess. I dared to look down then flinched as soon as I did. It was pitch black. No sign of life. My stomach started to hurt even more. I had to look for food. There was no other way I could survive. I got up, feeling dizzy, yet forcing myself to walk. I looked ahead of me. There was a long way to the shore where the boat had crashed. I still had the piece of wood clutched in my hand. I limped towards the forest. I looked up at the sky. Sunset would happen soon. I had to look for food now. I walked on the weeds again then inside the forest. There was a variety of exotic flora I had never seen back in the bustling city where I lived. I touched a pale blue flower near me. Its petals were silk-like, which made me smile. I proceeded to pluck one of them but my hand immediately started to sting. My hand started turning red and extremely itchy. I groaned and tried to ignore it. I was already hungry, now this? I moved forward and spotted a bunch of red berry-like things hanging from a plant. I had no choice. Either I die from these or it satisfies my hunger. I plucked them out and put them in my pocket.
I looked around desperately for more edibles but found none. I ran, and ran, towards the beach.
On my way, I saw a puddle of mud water. I took a deep breath and put my hands in it. It looked pretty much okay. I washed my hand with it, hoping to get rid of the itch. It did nothing.
I was on the brink of death. I took out the berries and thrust them into my mouth. As if by magic, my hunger immediately disappeared. I was confused but didn't spend time wondering about it. At least my hunger was gone.
I sat down under a tree nearest to the sand. It was so tiring. I was lucky today, but I probably won't stay lucky for long. I sighed and looked at the sky. It was clearer than back in the city. At least the stars weren't looking for a way to attack me. Unless a meteorite shower… well never mind.
I would've felt okay if someone was with me. But I was all alone here. I looked at the plank of the boat and decided to honour it, and decided to knight it with the name "Blakey". With one last look at Blakey, I closed my eyes, hoping to wake up back in my bed and find out this was just a bad dream.
