"SOLDIERS! KEEP YOUR POSITION!"
The pride of humanity, the great hero campaign stood in anticipation of their incoming enemy, the demon army.
Humanity was outnumbered but their five hundred thousand strong army was made of the best talents amids the human race, heroes, legends and royal knights.
One man proudly stood in the front giving the army behind him courage and military orders.
The beautiful golden hair coupled with his handsome face and chivalric armor made for a charismatic and noble leader that could steal the hearts of any ladies he may encounter and bring together the greatest legends to unite for the same cause.
As the demons approached he signaled his troops by raising his sword that shined like the sun.
"FORWARD!"
At his command legions of human warriors charged at the demons. There were all kinds of different people gathered together from Erionian royal guards to Basil desert slayers or even BaruIan battle monks.
Another group stayed further behind, composed of diverse ranged attackers and support roles that were tasked to assist the main force.
The two sides clashed in an epic battle where creatures and monsters of all kinds savagely fought against the well organized human army.
The losses for each side were enormous to the point where the hero had to step in.
He mounted his white stallion and rushed in the middle of the battle to aid his comrades.
As their side killed the last monster, a horn sounded out from afar, followed by war cries and blood chants.
"THE MAIN ARMY FROM THE SIX DEMON KINGS ARE INVOMING! GET IN FORMATION!"
Once again, the battle resumed. This time however the demon army was made up of much stronger species. They may have defeated the ogres, goblins and other primitive monsters previously but now they had to face off against true demons and demonic minions in an organized and powerful army.
The battle raged between the two armies, their power almost on par with each other but due to their previous losses the human army struggled to stay strong.
Multiple individuals stood out with their incredible teamwork and battle prowess mirroring several eye-catching demons in a godlike battle.
This war kept on going as lives were lost every second, but all the warriors persevered, to eradicate the opposite race.
Until.
Seven hours later.
Both sides were almost completely wiped out. The previously charming hero in shining armor was covered in blood and cuts as his armor was partially ripped and cracked.
He stood over the last remaining demon king that he had fought along with his friends to save humanity.
"Was it worth it you filthy demon?"
The demon in question smiled as she understood that this was the end, her army along with her comrades and their armies were defeated while she didn't even have the strength to stand up.
"You fucking humans are always like this, you think you rule the world but you are just a speck of mana in the vast void. I hope that all of your comrades that I killed will go to hell."
Unlike what she expected the hero didn't react negatively, he snickered instead.
" In hell? That's where your filthy kind belongs. And my comrades? They aren't dead. "
As if to prove his words he raised his swords to point at the sky and shouted at the top of his lungs "HEROES NEVER DIE!!!"
A golden holy light rose from his sword and enveloped the ravaged field littered with corpses and broken equipment.
As if time reversed, the human warriors that fell in battle rose up one after the other as their wounds were healed and their equipment repaired.
"N-No. This can't be real! "
The humans now miraculously back to their original force rejoiced and cried out in happiness.
The hero on the other hand turned to the crippled demon king and laughed.
"I kept this perk since the beginning of the game for a moment such as this one, it's a shame you won't witness as I finish off your filthy race and become the great emperor of humanity."
Before cutting her head off.
He was joined by several of his friends as they joyfully laughed at their victory.
"We defeated the demons!"
"Long live the empire!"
"Long live humanity!"
"Incredible miracle Michael! You saved all my precious knights! It would have cost me a fortune to replace them! "
"Bah ! We finally became strong enough to kill these bastards. Let's have a feast!"
"Haha, now we just have to clean up the last few demon peasants remaining in their country and the continent will be ours!"
"Don't forget the last demon king. We might have killed six but the last one might surprise attack us."
"Which one was it again?"
"Well we killed greed, wrath, envy, lust , pride and gluttony… So the last one is sloth."
"Meh, no one's ever heard of em, no worries."
The legendary party regrouped with other legends as they collected their spoils and loot in a jolly mood.
Warriors, soldiers and even the wise mages pillaged the demon corpses, some even pissing on their graves after doing so.
"Is that a bird?"
A mage in an expensive looking robe noticed a small shadow in his glasses' reflection.
Others lifted their eyes and saw the small shape in the sky.
"Is it heading our way?"
Michael had a bad feeling.
"Something is wrong! Prepare defensive spells!"
Mages and shield bearers obeyed his command and surrounded him and his party.
They deployed multiple skills and perks that formed magic shields to protect them from whatever was coming towards them.
They didn't expect anything significant as they just killed all their enemies but they still obeyed their leader's command.
One of the heroes clothed in a green cape lifted his bow towards the falling object and squinted his eyes.
"It's not a spell… Or a living being… It looks more like a… barrel? Or a… "
He stood there mouth agape with a shocked look on his face.
"IT'S A MIS-"
*BOOOOOOOOM*
A mushroom cloud rose from the medieval battlegrounds illuminating the dusk sky for a brief moment and blasting everything in a six kilometer radius with overwhelming force.
The human army was shredded to pieces by the bomb that fell near them only a few moments after having been miraculously revived by the hero.
The legends on the other hand were badly wounded by the searing heat, the Shockwave and the flying debris while also being afflicted by various strange effects that rendered them powerless.
The hero was spared the most since he was protected by his comrades, although his situation wasn't all too great either.
His sight was filled with notifications that he never expected to see all at once.
[You have been inflicted with the complete blindness curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been inflicted with the rot curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been inflicted with the nausea curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been inflicted with the scorched curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been inflicted with the frozen curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been inflicted with the fear curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been inflicted with the silence curse for 1 hour.]
[You have been… +135]
All the remaining humans that had barely survived the initial attack by either having deployed a defensive ability, being very resistant or having hidden from the blast slowly died from the different status effects that were inflicted upon them.
The legendary party and the hero were also going to die soon but due to their ample experience all of them started to chug potions, cast healing spells and self preservation abilities.
Most of it was heavily reduced because of their debuffs but it still would win them enough time to, maybe, survive until 1 hour passes by.
It was a shame that everyone close by either died or was currently blind since they would have been able to see the one that had committed so many more war crimes than them in a single attack.
A giant metal ship flying in the sky. Not a plane. Not a spaceship. A naval battleship.
It graciously floated miles above their heads as it mysteriously appeared from thin air.
It was a lot bigger than the models you would find on earth and was covered with strange lines, circles and symbols that glowed faintly.
Even the five triple cannon turrets were different, having a more antique appearance as their inside glowed with mana.
On its furthermost railing sat a man in a black German military coat, reminiscent of World War 2 uniforms.
He held a sniper rifle that differed a lot from the usual model just like the cannons on the ship it looked a little odd.
It was a little bulkier near the grip and became thinner as it advanced towards the tip.
Its black futuristic appearance was reinforced with a small red line shining between the plates as it hummed menacingly.
The man however didn't even have his finger on the trigger and was instead only looking through the scope to observe the situation below.
"Curse fission bomb was successful. Most of the 200 debuffs have connected with the targets…
Tch, they survived and have enough healing to last until the effects dissipate.
Initiate war zone cleaners…
Add note, enhance curse duration and fission, blast radius is perfect, upgrade petrification and slowing curses to disable all actions instead of just slowing them… "
He continued to whisper to himself as dozens of hatches opened up underneath the ship's hull, letting multiple unidentified falling objects zip towards the ground.
*CLINK* *SWOOSH*
All of these objects fell a relative distance away from the heroes without them realizing as they were completely cut off from reality.
The objects dealt minor damage to the surroundings when they hit the ground but still made a cloud of dust fly up and cover its shape.
This dramatic effect was sadly only visible to one person and he was very happy with his creations of destruction, as any crazy scientist should.
The UFO's (Unidentified falling object) appeared behind the dust as it dissipated, revealing some kind of futuristic escape pods that opened up with a puff of steam.
Out of each and every pod that had landed came several titan like war machines in the shape of medieval armor.
Their disproportionate limbs that made up their bodies, the complicated runes and magic circles that were drawn on their armor and rhythmically pulsate along with the giant red glowing eye sockets made for significant hints that these were indeed machines and not living warriors.
[EXTERMINATE.]
The army of machines raised different weapons and opened fire at the little group of humans blasting them with explosives, magic beams and a multitude of powerful spells.
The already weakened legends quickly fell from the ruthless bombardment as only one man continued to take the hits.
But he too lifelessly collapsed to the floor as his neck was frozen over by an ice spell and shattered by an explosion.
Unable to even defend himself or say a single word threatening to come back from the dead to take revenge.
…
Tada! Usually you would get a reincarnation or a travel back in time where the hero fixes his mistakes. The problem is, did you really think I was the hero?
Oh yes I, the one that is watching and is recounting the events happening below.
I'm obviously the narrator and protagonist of this story. So who am I?
What? I'm supposed to be subtle when I break the fourth wall? Nonsense.
To prove my point, I am an extremely handsome person, the smartest man, the most powerful ruler in this world.
And There is no way for you to know whether I am telling the truth or not.
Because I am my own story.
But seriously, who brings a sword to a nuclear fight? Stupid right?
I mean the other demon kings did use those, but me? I'm a smart guy, not some kind of stupid happy to go protagonist or an edgy character. Well… maybe a little edgy but only a little.
Oh. My apologies. I haven't introduced myself yet. I am Damon Davis, the seventh demon king, the demon king of sloth and the great creator (not god, I'm still a little short from that position).
I live on a continent faraway from the one whose entire remaining military force I just destroyed and I still have a bunch of annoying bastards to take care of over there, nothing like the small fry on this continent.
It was quite entertaining watching a bunch of monkeys beat each other with sticks, the resurrection twist at the end wasn't very original but entertaining nonetheless.
"Sir, the ship is ready to return, shall we head back?" A magic construct appeared before me, a fantasy hologram if you will.
Her hazel hair trailed down on her military shoulder pads adorned above her military uniform.
She had a perfect hourglass shape along with very significant "assets" hidden under her attire. Her face was the most successful, I have spent a lot of time designing her thin eyebrows, piercing green eyes and her small pink lips along with the rest of her face.
Oh right I digress, this woman that appeared before me is my trusted right-hand, a breathtaking beauty that I created.
What I value the most in her however is not her physical appearance but her combat capabilities and her intelligence.
"Sure thing Penelope. What day is it today again?" I smiled as I already knew the answer to my question.
"Today is the 1st of April sir also known as fools day sir."
"Ahh, so that's why there's a completely unrelated fantasy story within a sci-fi novel."
"Of course sir, the author may be stupid but not to the point of not knowing her own story. It can be a bonus story if the author and the readers want however."
"With a full backstory of how this Damon guy got his hands on a hex-curse nuke in a fantasy rogue-like game world?"
"Might I remind you that you are that Damon sir. And yes this may be a joke now but the author might add some chapters here and there in that bonus novel just for fun. Maybe even make it a full on novel once he is finished with the other one or make other short stories to finally improve her writing."
"Great!"
