Chapter 2 - counterattack of the weak

"Ugh what happened? That's right the village!"

I turned in horror as I saw the scene straight from hell. There was nothing left of my village houses were burning and destroyed, bodies piled up into a small mountain.

"GOD DAMMIT WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN! IF ONLY I WAS STRONGER, I COULD HAVE KILLED THOSE BASTARDS!"

"Wait what about karin and mom are they alright?"

I rushed towards my house hoping they found somewhere to hide "yeah yeah they're totally fine they're both slim people they can easily find somewhere to hide ..... right?"

Those thoughts were merely optimistic thinking, at my house I saw the corpse of my mother just outside what used to be our house.

I vomited out whatever was left in my empty stomache out of the horrifying scene before me. From the looks of it the bandits didn't just kill her immediately. Her clothes were torn and there are signs of constant stuggling against several people until they inevitably killed her. Looking at her corpse I was just engulfed in anger as I just mindlessly shouted out to the world.

"YOU DAMNNN BASTARDS I SWEAR ON MY LIFE I WILL KILL YOU AND MAKE YOU PAY FOR THIS! I'LL MAKE ALL OF YOU DIE A PAINFUL DEATH SO PAINFUL YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO REST EVEN AFTER DEATH!!!!!"

Amidst my yells of anger I heard a faint voice from my torn down house.

???: That voice... Big brother is that you?

Akito:Karin you're alive? where are you?

karin:I'm in the basement but i can't open the trapdoor.

Akito: Wait there i'm coming for you!

I ran towards my destroyed house pushing aside all the rubble and finally saw the trap door underneath our carpet and pulled it open.

Akito: "K-Karin your alright?"

Karin: "T-That's right brother we live in the centre of the village. Mom always said that if there was trouble we would have time to hide in the basement. But Mom happend to be out grocery shopping. M-Mom where's mom is she alright."

Hearing her concern i knew she wouldn't be able to handle seeing the corpse of her own mother. So i just quietly shook my head indicating mom was dead.

Karin: "Eh? what? M-m-m-mom i-is d-dead? Why? Why? Why did mom have to die big brother, did we do anything wrong? WHY DID OUR VILLAGE HAVE TO BE WIPED OUT! WHY!"

I had no answer to her tears and all i could say was that this happened because i was too weak to defend the village. I was too weak to do anything.

Karin: "N-No big brother it isn't your fault, there were too many to begin with. Not even an awakened could do anything about it."

I Just smiled at karin and said "Thanks for your encouragement. Wait here for a while I'll go give the villagers and mom a proper burial for them."

The burial wasn't anything fancy i just dug a large several holes placing their bodies in then burying them. I decided to place mom's grave beside Dad's i'm pretty sure that's what she would have wanted.

Karin: "W-What do we do now brother?"

Akito: "Just wait at our house until tomorrow morning and i'll come pick you up then."

Karin: "W-what will you do brother."

Akito: "hmm, i'll kill those people who killed mom just believe in me."

Karin: "What?! but they're all really high leveled and your only level one you cant win! I-If i lose you too then...then..."

Hearing her concern I gave her a headpat and reassured her that i wouldn't go if wasn't sure that I could win.

Akito: "Believe in me karin I'll kill them and come back unscathed. But if by noon tomorrow, I don't return, dont bother looking for me and make your way to the neighbouring city Laiton, my buddy, kaito, who is a merchant has his company based there just tell him my name and he'll immediately help."

Karin: "D-Dont say that brother i'm not going anywhere without you. Can't you go to laiton with me and take revenge another day."

Akito: "karin if I don't kill them now who knows how many more people will suffer.I have to do it even if it costs my life."

Karin: "hmmm...alright then brother but..." karin walked closer to me and gave me a light hug "you have to promise to come back alive, if it seems like you'll die then just drop it and we'll get back at them another time."

Akito:"Heh, silly girl I never had the intention of dying."

Karin: "Alright then i trust you, I'll be waiting for you brother."

I gave her one last head pat along with some food and water and sent her off.

Akito: "Now then since karin's gone it's time to exact revenge on those bastards."

I made my the required preparations preparing whatever shabby weapons was left in the village and my half destroyed leather armour.

"Guess it's time to open it up huh?"

I made my way to the village chief's house ravaging the remains looking for 'it'.

"God dammit where did he hide it!" As I shouted the floor I was standing on gave way there I found it, the key to our village's hidden chest.

Our village chief always said that our village was home to one of the ancient heroes The The originator of all blacksmithing techniques today. He left behind a weapon in our village hidden in a box only accesible with the key. Only issue being the box containing the weapon had a seal on it which can only be lifted when an 'awakened opens it with the key'.

I'm the first awakend in the village after the but there was a hidden rule that the box should never be opened unless a crisis arises. Hence to ensure safekeeping the key was left with the village chief while the box was left with the blacksmith. Nobody's even seen what it is, it could be a dagger, spear , sword, hell it could even be a spoon for all we know!

I went to the blacksmith's smithy and tried searching for it to no avil. "Dammit is the blacksmith a god of hiding where could it be!"

Suddenly the same voice I heard yesterday spoke in a fading voice beside my ear "Outside...." I looked around to find the source of the voice to find nothing. Feeling it was strange I still decided to let it go. My vengence was more important.

Heeding the words of the voice I went outside the smithy looking for the box and there i found it, it was covered in dirt and laying on the ground behind the smithy! The bandits must have found it and thought it was just some trash! Lucky!

Now for the moment of truth let's open it up.

"Finally the legendary weapon bestowed upon us us by the is a....a....a... a needle?! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS?! IT'S EVEN SMALLER THAN THE ACUPUNTURE NEEDLES THE NEEDLES OUR MASSEUSE USES! WAS MY VILLAGE SCAMMED BY THAT FUCKER OF A HERO?! I'M DOOMED MY ONLY HOPE IS A NEEDLE. Wait the wouldn't make a useless weapon lets look at it's stats, c'mon be something good.

what...what the? THIS IS AWESOME! THIS WAS PRACTICALLY MADE FOR ME!

This was probably the reason why the heroes never used it. They were at the pinnacle of levels nobody was higher leveled than them. Rather than helping if the enemy got it it would be trouble.

Looking at this legendary item I knelt down looking to the sky "Oh thank you Mr I always knew you were the best of the heroes. I totally wasn't cursing you before or anything." Though even if I have the Hero's toothpick, will I even be able to hit him? Our level gap is just too big and the arrow I landed before wasn't because I was succesful, but he didn't even bother with it. I was as good a.....No it was probably even lesser than a fly to him.

I can't overcome the level gap no matter what I try plus my equipment is even worse than what newbie adventures get. There's nowhere to go around here to get good weapons since the blacksmith's weapons all got stolen. Do I really have to wait till I get to a higher level before I even try. But who knows where he'll go afterwards. I only I had a strong comrade who'll fight alongside me.....I actually do have one in mind but its a risk. AHHH NO USE THINKING ABOUT IT IT'S DO OR DIE. I need his...no IT'S strength, the lunar wolf king.
