Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Birth, Death, and Life

In a kingdom called Magic the people praised the monarch for bringing peace upon all kingdoms through treaties. King Fredrick Alec and the Queen Ramona Alec sought out to bring peace and terrified all the other kingdoms before even engaging in war, the couple were a force to be reckoned with, as both contained enough power combined to wipe out the entire world. With no war to be had, the couple found the peace they wished for and now sought out to have children that could live in this peace with them and continue their legacies of peace. The Queen finally was about to give birth after a lot of trial and error, having a miscarriage and suffering from postpartum depression and anxiety.

The Queen and King both cannot wait to meet their newest heir. Will the baby be a boy or a girl? No one knows for sure yet, however, several priests foretold the child being the "enlightenment" as they each felt the Queen's stomach and gasped at the amount of power the child contained. The power was so immense no priest or doctor could tell what the child would be because it's power put up a fortifying shield. Most assumed a boy, thinking that the power could only mean a powerful next king and to boast about how powerful the King's magic stands as he has mastered fire, earth, wind, water, and black magic. A few thought a girl because the Queen was just as powerful and held the most highest magic power of healing and light magic, other than not being able to bring the dead back, she can heal severed limbs, cure illnesses, and make diseases simply disappear.

As the Queen pushed and pushed for the child to come out she screamed in agony, "Fred! Fred! Something's terribly wrong! Fred!" The Queen was squeezing the King's arm almost snapping his entire hand. "Ramona what do you mean?! Just bear with the pain my love and keep pushing!" Exclaimed the King as he tried to hold back from the pain of his hand going numb. The Queen continued pushing and eventually ran out of breath and energy. In a meager voice she said "My love, the child is healing me every time I push. What do we do now?" The King was taken aback and his mouth dropped to the floor. "Romona, the child… what of the child? What must we do my love?" As the King used his other hand to caress her face and kiss her on the forehead.

The Queen was already exhausted as is and all she wanted was to hold her baby. "Use your sword my King and slice the baby out, please I just want to hold the baby and I don't want to lose this baby too!" Exclaimed the Queen as she finally let his hand go after healing it. "I can heal myself afterwards, I'll be fine darling just get the baby quickly before we lose this one too!" The King felt sweat roll down his face, nonetheless, he needed to make his Queen's wish come true, so he wielded his sword and sliced the stomach open and the doctor immediately grabbed the baby out almost missing the chance as the wound was almost done healing. "It's a girl!" Exclaimed the doctor as he held her high for the Queen and King to see. As the doctor lowered the baby the King shrieked "Ramonaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!" The Queen lay there still her eyes open, but fatigued and lifeless. The priests immediately ran to the Queen's side to heal her, but she was already dead. "My Queen!" The priests exclaimed. The King weeped and cried. "My love, we have a daughter I think it's finally time for you to carry her." The doctor holding the new baby girl passed the girl to the King. The baby girl looked into the King's eyes, smiled, and laughed at his hairy beard as he nuzzled her against his face. "This is your mother, and I'm afraid this will be one of the last times you see her my daughter, say hello to her, her name is Ramona, remember her well child." Said the King as he continued to cry and place the baby girl in the Queen's lifeless arms. The baby girl heard nothing from the Queen and was confused. At that moment the baby girl placed her little hand on her mother's chest and a huge ray of light came out of the Queen. The Queen gasped for air and suddenly came back to life. The Queen stared into the eyes of her new baby girl in shock and awe as the baby closed her eyes and fell asleep. " What happened? Everything went dark and then suddenly she's in my arms?" Questioned the Queen as she hugged her beloved daughter. The King fell back to the floor and the priests caught him and brought him back up. "Ramona…. You were dead. And then the child brought you back, there was a huge light Magic that came out of you" Said the King. "The child brought me back to life? Are you certain I was dead?" Said the Queen. "My love the priests all could not heal you back because you were dead. And your lifeless body lay there, so I had our daughter say hello and goodbye to you in order to carry out your wish of carrying her." Said the King with a puzzled look.

The child yawned and fell asleep. Everyone in the room was in shock and awe. The baby had power to bring people back to life! The Queen looked at the baby in her arms and looked back at the King. "Well she is extraordinary because of us, so what shall we name her my King?" The King gave some thought and proceeded behind his Queen to carry the baby again in his and the Queen's arms. "Her name shall be Ariel Alec." He said with a smile on his face. "Ariel, Princess Ariel Alec of the Magic Kingdom, from this day on you will be the one to carry out our legacies of peace my beloved daughter. I love you so much and just as how I have given you life, you too have given me life. Happy birthday Ariel." Said the Queen. "Alright, now priests and doctor we must prepare for a banquet for Princess Ariel!" The King turned to his aid "Sir John I entrust you to the banquet, invite all kingdoms and have them here tonight. Be sure to ask for their heirs to come as well, no matter the age. For I want to see whom my daughter will have to deal with as she grows." Demanded the King. After the King said his order everyone immediately disbursed and the palace preparations were in action.

The palace was grand and soon the moon lit up the sky, envoys, other kingdoms, common people, and even the servants were allowed to celebrate the birth of the new princess. Crowds of people all around the palace. The King and Queen both prepared for the banquet grabbed Princess Ariel, whom was still asleep, and made their way to the podium to announce Princess Ariel's arrival. The doorman was just about to open the door and shout when the King stopped him. "I will introduce her." As the door swung open and the King and Queen stood before everyone, the King shouted "I, King Fredrick Alec-" "and I Queen Ramona Alec." Added the Queen. "Both of us want to introduce Princess Ariel Alec of the Magic Kingdom!" Both exclaimed as they held Ariel up for the people to see. All the while, the little Princess was sound asleep. "Enjoy the wine, the food, and the entertainment my guests as we celebrate this joyous birthday!" Exclaimed the King. And the three went back inside. The crowds cheered and some lit fireworks, everyone was celebrating the birth of the new Princess Ariel Alec.

"My love, why hasn't she awoken yet?" Asked the King. The Queen placed the Princess down into her crib and pulled her blanket over her. "I'm not sure my love, maybe she's exhausted from using so much power today, but I am surprised she didn't wake up at all despite our shouting and the roars of the people outside." Said the Queen. "Well let's go enjoy the party my love, sir John and lady Mia can watch over her." The King said as he waited to escort the Queen to the banquet. "Okay Fred, after all I finally get to mellow down now that she is born." And the two left for the banquet, they drank wine and danced, met with all the other kingdoms, and once the banquet was cleared out and everyone went home the Queen and King retired to their chambers to spend their first night with their Princess.

"Our Princess is still asleep." Said the Queen as she kissed Ariel on the forehead. The King touched Ariel's crib and said "let us also go to sleep my love, it has been such a long day." "Yes it has my King." Said the Queen and the two retired to their bedchambers and fell fast asleep. Princess Ariel did not fuss throughout the entire night, nor did she wake up. Lady Mia stayed beside the crib all night to tend to the Princess, and also fell asleep herself. The night was silent and the only people up were the priests and the doctor from earlier. "Princess Ariel is the first to ever bring someone back to life! We shall find any writings or history of light that can explain this, since the Princess has slept the whole day and night ever since bringing the Queen back. We must know if she will be awake soon before the King asks us for an explanation!" Exclaimed the head priest. They stayed in the palace's library all night just to find answers for the Princess's sleepiness. "This here talks of sleep paralysis in black magic, but one must chant spells to both induce and to deduce sleep." said of the priests as he unraveled a scroll. "But that is black magic, we all clearly saw the light the emanated from the Queen, that was not anywhere close to black magic." Replied the doctor. "Ahh yes, but who's to say the child only has light magic? Do recall that her father can wield all the other types of magic." Said the head priest. "But it is known knowledge that no one can have both light and dark magic because they are polar opposites. Perhaps that is why the Queen was unable to birth the other babies and Ariel was lucky to have inherited just light magic." Said the second head priest. "No, no, no. The child is extraordinary, remember we should remain open minded because before today, nobody was ever brought back to life, well as far as I have read through each of the light magic scrolls and all the healing books, bringing someone back is just not possible, anyone who has even attempted, failed only being able to heal the outside and inside of the body even though they are dead." Said the doctor.

"We shall continue our studies to find answers, or shall we give up and give in to the King's madness if his daughter does not wake?" Asked the head priest. Everyone stayed quiet because they knew that the King loves the Princess and they shuttered at the thought of what would be in store if the Princess does not wake up. "Agreed" they all said in unison as they continued to devour the books and scrolls in the library. "Wait! I think I found something peculiar in this scroll. It talks of how each element can be used, for example wind to move fire and earth, water to help with the flow of dark and light magic, fire to assist dark Magic's triumph against water." Said one of the priests. He unravels the scroll more. "Think about light and dark magic, perhaps because we have never tested both to see if they can enhance the other and only seen them cancel each other out, we have no way of truly knowing if they do?" The priests looked at each other and the doctor all in disbelief.

The head priest pinched his brows together and shrugged "You know what, suppose you are right and the child possibly has both dark and light magic what are you insinuating?" "I'm thinking that the Princess hasn't awoken because sleep could be the balance of the two, think about it the Queen was dead fully dead, light magic did not bring her back because we all tried. The child is indeed the enlightenment and perhaps this is Gaia's way of showing us enlightenment of dark and light magic!" Exclaimed the priest. Each of their mouths dropped. "The prophecy did state the child would be the enlightenment, do you truly believe that this could be the enlightenment Gaia foresaw? You know what, maybe sleep is the balance of the two and perhaps the child did use both black magic and light magic, but we have no proof." Said the head priest. "Well black magic cannot be seen, only felt as you all know, and I cannot say for certain the child had used it, but I think he might be onto something, perhaps the Princess's enlightenment that was foretold is the balance of light and black magic. We must speak with the King immediately to tell him of what we think. That way the King can have an understanding as to why the Princess has not woken up yet." Said the doctor.

After placing the scrolls back and putting away all their reading material, everyone cleared the library and also went to sleep, except for the doctor. The doctor went to check on the magical recordings of the birth to see if he can spot anything of significance. He noticed the Princess place her hand on the Queen and the light came out. "This could be able to show the King that the Princess could have used black magic and light magic inconspicuously to bring the Queen back. But I cannot say if she truly did or not." Shrugged the doctor. He placed the magical devices back into the files and went to his room to sleep.
