Elara had run through a long distance just to get to class on time but her fears came to pass cause not only did she get there super late but she was also resisted from entering the class but it didn't just end there.
Mr Charles was a very strict lecturer, every student knew him for being super strict and strong-headed, he was probably the only teacher that would adamantly hold his fort in front of the school prodigies. One thing he hated the most was lackadisical tardiness_ like he would call it.
his last words before he closes the class door was "Miss Flynn it seems I'm sure the Dean of student affairs would be willing to hear your explanation." indirectly he was sending her to the Dean's office.
With a somber face, she turned and made her way to the Dean's office, she knew she was going to receive a punishment but she couldn't possibly act like she didn't get Mr Charles instructions right?
"Miss Flynn what are you here for?" The stern Dean asked when the girl walked in.
"Mr Charles sent me yet" Elara timidly replied.
"oh" the fat man uttered knowingly, he seemed to have already guessed the reason she was here but still he asked "and why is that?"
"um...I...I got late for class" She responded in a voice was barely above whispers.
"you got late for class? how late if I may ask miss Flynn?"
'is this a f*cking interrogation session or what?' She cussed in her mind.
"40 minutes"
"for a one hour class you got 40 minutes late? is this how miss Flynn tend to face your studies?" His voice got firmer and cold.
"but i_" he cut her off
"you're a new student and yet you're blowing off your lectures, do I have to be worried that you would be like other truant student that we have?"
"No sir i promise I won't be like that, you don't have to be worried?" she assured the man, hoping that her words would be plausible enough for him to spare her this time. and it looked like it worked
"yes I believe I won't have to be worried" it looked like her words worked_or maybe not "that's why I am instructing you to become the baseball teams drudge as a punishment till I say to stop. it's either that or you lose a quite an amount of marks"
"what?!" she jumped from her chair furiously
"you're asking to run around for the baseball team?!"
"yes miss Flynn" He reclined nonchalantly.
"that's not possible! why should_" she complained angrily but he cut her off.
"not another word Elara Flynn! this is the cost of your tardiness and I hope you learn from it, now if you can please leave my office it would be kind of you"
Elara glared at him for a little while then stormed out of the office.
it was just a stupid boring class that she could have even made up her mind not to attend but yet she was getting such a gross punishment for it. She knew what being the teams' drudge meant cause she had heard girl complain about it in high school. she could already imagine running around to get their blockheads mineral water then also washing their stinking sweaty sport clothes...ugh it was so gross just thinking of it.
No matter how she was not happy with the punishment she couldn't afford to lose marks she wasn't even sure of getting in the first place...she really wasn't part of the bright students.
"aish what a load of Bullshit?".
****
"Olcan what is wrong?! you've been moping since we came back from sch, you're not yourself"
Though Olcan tried to cover his absentmindedness by being his usual jovial and Playboy self but still there was a lot lacking and his friends had noticed it.
"like how? i don't get you?" He said feigning ignorance.
Ernouf was the one to speak this time around "you have been quite different, it's almost like you've got a lot of things on your mind. what are you thinking about?"
"yeah what are you thinking about?" Rexitt chipped in.
He shook off their suspicions "you guys are being paranoid, I'm absolutely fine what could possibly make me mope"
He sounded very sincere but Rexitt and Ernouf weren't just buying it, they have known eachother for too long to be deceived by a mere facade.
"could it be the issues with the rogues?"
at the mention of the rogues his expression dropped further, his father had informed him of the rumors going around that there were signed of rogues in their territory. It was just rumors but yet had caused a lot of ruckus and panic. No one has really sighted any rogues but yet they were calling unto him to safeguard the territory.
It was really annoying being on guard and running around for a threat that was likely only a farce grown from rumors.
