Dora held her water blades in front of her as she studied the brown haired boy that had appeared out of nowhere. He had the aspect of a young man, in is early twenties at most, and a pair of bright brown eyes to go with the hair.
"Who are you?" Dora asked, not even lowering her weapons as Gun finally arrived by her side. He eyed Dorian with a suspicious and curious look, but made no attempt to convince his partner to lower her guard.
"Hi, I'm Dorian." Dorian waved hesitantly at the duo. His smile faltered ever so slightly upon seeing their hostile stance.
'Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Psyker, why are they being so hostile towards me?!' He hurriedly thought towards his mental companion.
[Let me give you a basic layout. In the Post-Apocalyptic world we are currently in, Awakened are divided into several groups. First, there are the Hunters. This group of Awakened deals with Awakened persons that had chosen to affiliate themselves with the official institution that is in charge of handling Awakened. They work for the current government, and can be said to be on the 'Order' side f things.
Next, we have the Wanderers. These Awakened are basically as their title states. They do not have any close ties with organizations, and wander through the globe in search of whatever interests them. You can group this bunch as the 'Chaotic Neutral' in this setting.
Lastly, there are the Lost Ones This group is firmly on the Evil side of the scale. They care little for anything else than power, and they will kill people to get it. Humans and beasts are nothing more than mere bags of flesh in their eyes.
Because of this grouping, these two Awakened before you are hesitant of the reason you are here.]
'What?! You should have told me all this before I let them see me!' Dorian cried internally.
[Well, you did not ask.]
"..."
"Dorian...?" Dora exchanged a look with Gun, "What faction are you with?" She asked, choosing to directly bite the bone. There was no beating of any bush.
Dorian's mind ran quickly as he thought of a reasonable explanation for his situation.
"Um... I'm a Wanderer?" He said, but winced as the last part of his sentence came out as a question.
"A Wanderer? What is a Wanderer doing in Order Territory?" Gun frowned deeply. Dorian could basically see the gears turning in his head.
"It doesn't matter. Wanderers in this area are bad news. We should capture him and take him back with us. We might get some good credits for him." Dora snorted and tightened her grip on her water swords.
"Hey, hey, hey! Hold on a second! I mean no harm!" Dorian saw her movements and stumbled backwards while raising his arms in defense.
Grrrrr...
Seeing his master in distress obviously upset Bolt. The one meter large Lightning Hound had his hackles raised, and his teeth bared. Lightning began to dance around him, setting his fur on end.
"Tell your mutt to stand down. Just come with us, and we won't have to use force." Dora said.
"Why should I go with you? I don't know if you want to harm me or not." Dorian retorted. Since they were not willing to treat him reasonably, then he would also act coldly to them.
"This is Order Territory, not some place Wanderers are allowed to roam without a pass. And from what I can tell, you don't have a pass. You will have to come to our Oasis and explain yourself." Gun stepped forward and said.
"Can you at least treat me with some modicum of respect? I'm a human being too, not some mindless monster." Dorian said. "Stand down, Bolt." He patted his companion's head, getting the angry Lightning Hound to calm down. Bolt whined at him, but let his sparks die down.
"You can follow us back to the Oasis, but you will have to answer some questions. As she said, Wanderers in this area can lead to some bad things happening." Gun told him.
"Alright." Dorian nodded and agreed to follow them.
They walked in silence, with Dorian a short distance away from them. The air was tense as Dora kept glancing at Dorian from time to time.
"How did you get to this place?" Gun suddenly asked, breaking the tense atmosphere. He turned to look at Dorian who had his brows raised up high.
"I don't know." Dorian said simply with a shrug. His words forced Dora and Gun to come to a stop.
"What?" Dora asked, confused.
"I said I don't know. My camp was attacked, and I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was here." Dorian explained.
"Oh? What attacked your camp?" Gun asked. He wanted to probe for some information from Dorian.
"I don't know. It was late at night, and before I could do anything, I was knocked out by an explosion. The next thing I can remember is waking up next to Bolt." Dorian explained and patted the Lightning Hound's head.
"Ruff!" Bolt barked happily.
"You are an Awakened, yes?" Dora suddenly asked. She had remained silent ever since Gun started speaking, but seeing Dorian's interactions with Bolt was rousing her curiosity.
"Yes," Dorian nodded, "I am a Lightning element Awakened." He said.
