Under Xiao Tengfei's instigation, the crowd united and launched a full-blown verbal attack, attacking her indiscriminately.
The crowd was cursing her and her father and everyone in her family, telling her to get lost or die and that Burning Phoenix nation had no place for a relative of a traitor.
Wei's gaze was gloomy and dark but Jiang Ying Yue shook her head gently telling him to wait for a moment when they heard a sudden loud noise.
Clap, Clap, Clap!...
Clap, Clap, Clap!....
The crisp and resounding noise brought an abrupt pause to the surrounding chatter and noise.
" I long knew the Capital was a den of snakes but I never knew this place was raising so many.....what? Did I say anything wrong?" Tian Lan paused and her smile widened as she continued with an obvious hint of mockery, " Aren't you people just like snakes--poisonous and ungrateful?"
" This girl, you can't say it like it this! How can you call us snakes!" Someone argued back angrily upon hearing Tian Lan's mocking words.
" Why can't I call you that? How are you any different from them?" Tian Lan scoffed and continued, " A snake doesn't know how to be grateful, they would even bite the person who saved them. Aren't you doing the same? So, what's the difference between you and them?"
" Girl, if you don't understand the situation you better not talk. How can you simply compare us to a snake?!" said another one.
" Yes, How can she call us ungrateful?! I have been an upright person my whole life and abided by the morals." retorted the other.
" Who is this ignorant girl? We are doing our job here as loyal citizens but she's calling us ungrateful snakes? This is just too much!"
" Tsk, tsk, brothers, why are you guys even arguing with her?! I bet she must be in cahoots with those Jiangs!"
The people couldn't take it lying down after being mocked by such a young girl and expressed their anger and displeasure one after another. They looked excited as if they had been injected with a double dose of steroids, they kept cursing left and right.
In contrast to those dancing monkeys, the other side looked exceptionally calm.
After standing for a while Jiang Ying Yue felt tired Jiang Ying Yue casually took out a chair and set down and she was even considerate enough to take out another one for Tian Lan to sit after which she gestured Qiu to go back and prepare some tea.
Seeing how casual she looked Tian Lan's mouth twitched slightly as she tried hard to maintain her composure before taking her seat.
" When monkeys dance one should enjoy the show, why bother arguing?" Jiang Ying Yue took out a handful of peanuts and handed some to Tian Lan as she said.
She was like an elder teaching her junior a life-long lesson.
Seeing her series of 'revolting' actions the crowd had already realized something and gradually quietened down.
Hence, when Jiang Ying Yue said her piece everyone heard her. Not to mention the girl hadn't even bothered to lower her voice.
Damn! This brat!
She didn't even show an ounce of respect towards her opponents.
" Pfft...you are right!" Tian Lan giggled happily and said, " And I also think they have some problem with their eyes, they can't even see such a simple truth."
However, Jiang Ying Yue seemed to disagree with her remark as she shook her head and said, " No, if it was just their eyes, they would have been fine and they could still be cured. However, when the issue lies with their minds and hearts itself any method would be useless against them."
Upon hearing her words, Tian Lan's eyes lit up with admiration as she nodded repeatedly.
" Don't bother with them. Here, drink some tea, you must be tired. Oh, Qiu wait. Let me take out the table first."
" Ah...Yueyue, you sure know how to enjoy! By the way, where's Xiao Mei? You should call her out that girl loved watching such shows."
" I don't know where that girl went. I haven't seen her since this morning."
" Hmm... it's fine then we can just tell her what we saw when she returns."
" You..you...." The crowd was completely flabbergasted seeing the duo's interaction.
Were these two even human?!
They left them here shouting on their own while they sat there comfortably drinking tea and gossiping.
The crowd was livid and indignant.
" What? If you are that speechless then go home and read some books. Maybe reading will help you grow some brain." said Jiang Ying Yue with a raise of her brow, still drinking tea not at all looking bothered.
Her previous rage had all passed with that violent episode. Now she looked cool as a cucumber.
" You..you are just a daughter of a traitor! What right do you have to educate us?! Get out!! our country doesn't welcome you!" A young master from a certain noble family shouted.
Damn it! Most of them were from the family of aristocrats and here this girl was telling them to read books.
Wasn't she calling them illiterate?
And what did she mean by growing some brains?!
The crowd was so offended by the duo that they looked like they had eaten a truckload of gun-power. Their eyes were almost spewing fire from anger and frustration.
How they wished to tear those two brats apart if not that murderous presence!
" Hmm...alright, we'll leave right away and fulfill your wish but before that, you should go and ask your emperor's opinion." saying this Jiang Ying Yue shifted slightly and leaned back to sit more comfortably. Her leg crossed and both of her arms casually perched on the armrests, " I don't think he'd agree to this."
Her words and every bit of gesture revealed a regal arrogance.
As a traitor's notorious daughter, she was supposed to be down and out and miserable resembling a drenched rat crossing the street.
But how come she looked even more audacious and arrogant than before?
Ask the Emperor?...
Who gave her the guts to speak in that tone?
" Bah!. ..Who do you think you are?! You are just a traitor's daughter, do you think that you are someone precious to His Majesty for him to bother about you?! " the person scoffed and glared at her with contempt.
" Yes, how bold of you?! Don't make it sound like you are really something and Our Majesty would have to beg you to stay if you want to leave!"
" Bah, Bah, this girl had the guts!!"
The crowd looked agitated once more looking like their about to start another verbal riot.
However, the other side remained unfazed as if whatever happened here didn't concern them.
" Isn't that so?" propping her chin on her palm Jiang Ying Yue quirked her brow looking puzzled and interested, " Isn't that how it is?.... Crown Prince, why don't you tell them the truth?" At the end of her piece, she glanced at Xiao Tengfei and suggested seriously.
What?
Xiao Tengfei, who was waiting for the crowd to dismantle the ugly freak was caught of her caught off guard not understanding her sudden question.
Truth? What truth?
He didn't know anything. He was only released today from his punishment.
He wasn't faking it. Xiao Tengfei was puzzled. He knew that his Imperial Father was hiding many things and he had yet to obtain such gut to pry into those secrets.
Now, Great!
Xiao Tengfei acutely sensed that he was scr*wed.
Nevertheless, Jiang Ying Yue didn't at all bother waiting for his reaction or response she was quick, " Nevermind, Our precious Crown Prince must be tired from kneeling so much, I'll do it." Jiang Ying Yue patted her chest and declared.
" So, before revealing anything regarding the ' truth' I mentioned about let me elaborate briefly and clarify some things so that everyone can have a better understanding of the scenario....quiet! quiet! Wei, make them quiet!"
Wei immediately blew his air-conditioner at full-bast getting her order.
Xiao Tengfei and a few who were still trying to interrupt the speech or were trying to make trouble instantly squeaked and kept quiet.
Satisfied, Jiang Ying Yue started once again, " Alright, let's start. I know everyone here hates me a lot and my family, especially my father....a traitor, an ungrateful scum this is what you call him right? You hate him because you heard he betrayed the nation by colluding with the enemy and divulging important military secrets. You hate him because you heard that his actions resulted in the death of countless soldiers and caused a huge loss to the nation, right?"
" That's right, your father was a scrounge and you can see it yourself--" Despite his fear a bold and reckless person spoke up not fearing his death.
" Wait, wait, what am saying is you hate him purely because you heard of his action, and not because he did it."
" Hmph! What's the difference?! You're just--" Finally getting impatient Jiang Ying Yue snapped back and interrupted, " Can you please let me finish what I am saying first? Aren't you guys tired of chattering non-stop? Wei, please kept them quiet...at least until I finish my piece!"
" Okay."
" Cough...!"
" Cough...!"
"..."
Under Wei's increasing pressure everyone aside from Jiang Ying Yue and people felt breathless as if someone was choking. The blood coursing within their veins was rioting and everyone spat out a mouth of blood.
Finally quiet!
" Alright, what was I saying?...oh, right, you people hated my father just because you heard some nonsense. You kept accusing him calling him a traitor but let me ask you where is the proof or evidence of his wrong-doing? From what I know even in the court they weren't able to produce any evidence of General Jiang's treason. You people solely fabricated lies and accused him of something he never did. My father was an upright man and he had been all his life. His loyalty and devotion towards his nation and its people were far more than those hypocrites sitting in the court. But despite all his devotion and loyalty why did he have to suffer such a fate? Can anyone tell me?" Unknowingly the rim of her eyes turned red.
" You don't have any evidence of his treason, nor did any of you have personally witnessed him doing it. Everything we know about this matter is only through hearsay. The border is far from here who knows what actually happened? Whether my father committed treason or whether he got plotted against by someone instead no one knows. And perhaps no one will even in the future. Since General Jiang is dead everything came to an end. The traitor was caught and killed, the end of the story." Jiang Ying Yue paused briefly looking thoughtful before continuing.
" So, it's very reasonable that you guys are doing what you are doing, anyway someone had to bear the burnt so why not General Jiang who is already dead? Perhaps some of you are truly but I know not all of you are. After all, this is the Capital....And this is where you did wrong.
" General Jiang might not be here but his daughters are here. How dare you accuse my father of something he didn't do?!" Jiang Ying Yue's gaze turned sharp as a sword as the aura around her intensified.
Xiao Tengfei's face had already turned pale from fright.
Did this girl know something?
Impossible!
" Why would my father betray the nation if he really wanted the throne he could have just snatched it. Everyone knows the might of the raging flame army under my father who only obeyed his order. With one word from him, they would have razed the entire capital. Colluding with the enemy? Betraying his nation? Ridiculous!"
" My father could get what he wanted he wasn't someone who'd resort to such lowly means. Oh, right, Crown Prince, weren't you saying your Imperial father and Our Majesty were kind enough to let me return but I betrayed his trust? Was it really out of kindness that he let me return? I barged into Capital! I blew up the entire City gate! No matter how benevolent a monarch was he would have been offended after this was outright challenging his dignity and authority. But your Imperial Father didn't do anything to me, Why? Just why?"
Why?
Yes, why?
The crowd also turned to look at Xiao Tengfei with inquiring gazes.
Xiao Tengfei was pale his back was covered in a cold sweat as he recalled how his father kept emphasizing that he must let everyone know that ugly freak could enter the capital only because of his Imperial father's permission. He must magnify his father's kind and benevolent persona to the fullest.
Although, Xiao Tengfei didn't know the exact reason behind it he wasn't stupid.
Now, look! His fear was coming true!
