Chapter 39 - Lan Quan

In a small town, the streets were crowded and bustling with all kinds of activity. Despite it being small the town didn't fall behind in liveliness and grandeur when compared to the densely populated grand Capital.

In fact when fairly compared the magnificence of this small town could even put the Capitals of the six kingdoms to shame.

Multi-storied buildings, intricately decorated shops, and pavilions. Everything looked top-notch and excellent.

.....That's how 'these people' thought who came all the way from the Capital, which of course excluded Jiang Ying Yue, an alien from the 21st-century modern world.

Though the magnificence of this small couldn't be compared to the huge metropolitan cities of her world, it could still be considered quite a sight when compared to the Capital, which prevented Jiang Ying Yue from giving an internal scoff.

Jiang Ying Yue's group that had arrived here last night after six days of continuous traveling, stood across the bustling street and took in all the liveliness and prosperity of this small town, an area that belonged to neither of the six kingdoms nor the four domains of the Purple Cloud continent.

This small town called Lan Quan was an independent territory that separated the six great kingdoms from the four powerful domains of the mainland.

It was situated at the junction of three routes that lead in three different directions-- the southeast direction leading to the mainland where the four domains were, the southwest direction where The legendary Heavenly Beast Mountain was located, and the other to the north direction that led to the great six kingdoms.

Though this small town was an independent territory the power that it held couldn't be underestimated as it was a home for those powerful lone cultivators who disdained restrictions and hated unnecessary troubles.

Many hidden masters abandoned their counties or domains and took shelter in Lan Quan to continue their training peacefully, escaping from all restrictions and troubles that came when one lived under the jurisdiction of a group of narrow-minded power-hungry people.

And this wasn't an uncommon phenomenon...

When a person who didn't belong to any powerful sect or prestigious family grew strong through hard work and persistence to a certain level, he or she would garner all kinds of respect and admiration anywhere they went and even the rulers of their region would be willing to give them some face.

However, this all would change when the same person grew powerful enough to rival the ruling power of the territory and endanger their dictatorship.

Those people would never let them wander freely and threaten their position. Either they submit and join their camp to serve the rulers or be hunted down to be imprisoned forever or put to death.

Thus those powerful cultivators who weren't affiliated with any sect or clan had to abandon their homes to escape such a horrible fate.

This was how it was when it came to power struggles. Either you grow stronger or don't let anyone grow stronger than you.

A cruel and brutal method to ensure that they always remained in power.

So, Lan Quan was home to all those runaway cultivators, a home that made them feel secure and free.

These cultivators here worked hand and hand to protect each other in this territory and to keep the peace and tranquility of this small town.

That was why Lan Quan was a free territory that wasn't ruled by any sect, clan, or person. These cultivators here weren't like those dictatorial rulers but instead like guardians.

You could do anything in Lan Quan as long as one didn't kill or endanger the peace of this town, everything was fine.

Those protectors would only show up when there was an utmost need for them.

That was why no one knew the number of powerful masters, this small town Lan Quan hid.

" Let's go...I asked around, they said that there's a market over there that sells all kinds of items....from weapons to furnaces, even pills, and rations, everything can be found there." Tian Shan hollered to her companions while pointing in a direction.

This group of people who was about to move like a herd of sheep on their shepherd's call halted midway and took a few steps back when a convoy of beautifully decorated carriages with countless gold beads hanging from the curtains and flying huge banners of Phoenix engulfed in flames swaggered through the main street, carrying a royal insignia looking lofty and exaggerated.

The people walking on the roads rushed to move to either corner of the streets making way for these huge carriages. While.....

Jiang and Co.: " !!!"

What the hell was this?!

What was going on here?!

The people in Jiang Ying Yue's group all had their mouths wide open as watched that gold embed huge carriages halting right in front of them. And then came.....

Another shock, when Xiao Tingfei, the crown prince of the Burning Phoenix nation alighted from that carriage while intimately supporting Bai Ya helping her to get off the carriage.

The atmosphere between these two people was so intimate and romantic that everything appeared pink within the radius of their love bubble.

Ah...that gentle, doting gaze.....ah, that dependence and admiration.

" Ah...don't look guys....you'd go blind." Tian Lan warned others while taking this chance to cover her eyes with her hands. It was too jarring to her pitiful eyes. Others also felt cringe just at the first sight of this and hurriedly followed the suit.

While Jiang Ying Yue was the exact opposite.

She watched this drama with great relish and even commented loudly, " Yeah, yeah...that's it. Be a happy couple and accompany each other to the end because that's what you deserve, you--"

However, before she could have enough of it a large calloused hand covered her eyes and cut her off not letting her finish her sentence.

Jiang Ying Yue was so angry at being interrupted when she was watching such a great show that she yelled in anger, " You...dead...man, are you seeking death?! Remove your hand right now!"

Jiang Ying Yue couldn't be more obvious. Even with her eyes covered she knew who this person was.

Wasn't this her dead, runaway patient who kept speaking gibberish and refused to leave her alone?

" No..dirty." The man's response couldn't be more concise, clearly expressing his stance with just these two words.

Damn it!!

Jiang Ying Yue was fuming mad.

This stinky dead man only knew to get in her way.

" Hey.... dead man, I am your master or you are my master, huh? Stop bossing me around and let me enjoy the drama...it ain't easy for us city folk to come across such scene of a pair snakes' lovemaking."

Pfft....

Pfft....

" Hahaha.....sna.....snakes...lovemaking... hahaha.." Tian Lan and others couldn't stop laughing when they heard all these.

To be honest, Tian Lan was a bit upset with the boy when the boy complimented this damned cheating couple. After all, she was a low-key fan of Jiang Ying Yue, so it was understandable. But now that she heard the boy she understood what he actually meant.

It was indeed as he had said, these two people should just accompany each other, they deserve each other. After all, a snake could only pair with a snake. They shouldn't harm human beings.
