Bree deliberated all of this in only a few seconds because Levi was looking at her expectantly. What she ended up saying was a simple "no."
He didn't seem convinced. "Really? Because you don't seem sure."
She inwardly cursed herself for her hesitation. She didn't want to get involved with Levi so she needed to curtail his interest in her. What could she say? The evidence was fairly convincing.
Laying around in her pajamas in the afternoon as if she had nowhere to be in a room that was locked from the outside was fairly suspicious in and of itself. If not for the lock, she could brush it off saying she didn't have plans today but that lock was going to cause her trouble.
"I locked myself in because I didn't want anyone bothering me," she lied. "That door has always had its lock backwards. All I have to do is lock it myself on my way in then I'm set not to be disturbed. Most of the time anyway."
Levi's eyes narrowed. "Then what are you doing here?"
