For a brief moment, Drew could appreciate the cat's loyalty and desire to keep his person happy instead of being frustrated by it. He still had no idea what inspired it though.
After twenty-two years, the cat couldn't have been doing well physically when it died. There was a good chance he only held on as long as he did for Mila's sake. He did say he didn't go into the light after death because he couldn't bear to see her crying over his body.
That was an awful lot of devotion from a cat. Drew wouldn't stay behind after death and inconvenience himself for anyone. Not that he even had anyone he loved in the first place though.
