Damien had time to figure that out. He wouldn't need to have an explanation for why Maisie was always hanging around until after the curse was broken.

There was time but not as much as he would like. They hadn't managed to figure out how to break it in five hundred years so how were they supposed to do it in three and a half months? Even if they did have a powerful witch on their side, he didn't like the uncertainty.
He didn't understand much about magical research but stuck close by whenever Maisie worked on it because his presence boosted her magic. She told him what she was doing without prompting most of the time but he often wondered if she was actually talking to herself when she did so because it kind of seemed that way.
Either way, it was nice to know what was going on at least somewhat. He could give more accurate updates to Simon that way.
