Dallin smiled. "Dogs are very loyal companions. I highly recommend it. I don't know what I'd do without her."
The hostess came by to seat them then and the conversation stopped while they looked at the menus. He didn't want to get anything too expensive and put her out since she said it was her treat so he didn't get his usual order here because it was somewhere in the middle of the menu in terms of price.
That meant he didn't know what to get though. He ended up spending the whole time before the waiter came to take their order trying to figure it out.
Once their orders were taken, he figured he should try striking up a conversation again. "So, you said you move around a lot. Where did you live before you came to Montana?"
"Kansas," Hailey said with a shrug.
Dallin had never met anyone from Kansas before. Though she probably didn't think of herself as 'from' Kansas if she moved around a lot.
