Fletcher was completely miserable. Lexi was obviously getting annoyed with him.
"Fletcher, I really don't think she's as upset with you as you think she is. When I got her out of there, she didn't seem angry. She said so herself that you saved her from her father. But she also thought you didn't care about her that much. Avoiding her is only going to drive that home."
"What?! What did she say exactly?"
"She said she didn't think you would go that far for her and I expressed disbelief because she knows you're Dusk and she said she didn't think you cared that much. So not even bothering to check on her personally after she got hurt is kind of going to prove her right."
Fletcher groaned and buried his head in his hands. He didn't want her to think that but he also didn't know how to face her.
"But what if she asks why I did it? I can't say 'hey, I killed your father because I love you'! That's the worst possible time to say it!"
