They were agreed on that point. They actually had something in common. Who would have guessed? Sadie had been forced to be a hero and it seemed like Fletcher had been forced to be a henchman. She had been thirteen but what about him?
And he had made Ben retire so he didn't have to deal with that anymore and could just focus on being a kid in the way he probably hadn't been able to experience himself. The thought made her sad for him.
"You really do look out for them," she said softly.
Fletcher acted as if it was perfectly natural and not something praiseworthy at all. Like he was obligated even though he wasn't. "Someone has to."
It WAS praiseworthy though and Sadie wanted him to know that. "They're very lucky to have you."
