Fletcher couldn't help but smile at his wife even with the negative feelings resurging. "That may be the nicest thing you've ever said to me. Thanks, Sadie."
"…have I been so terrible?"
"No but you're obviously afraid of me. There's really no reason to be. I've never posed a threat to you. If you could…please forget about any impressions you've had of Dusk."
Sadie cracked a smile. "Fletcher Langley is a lot less scary."
"Is that so?"
"There's nothing scary about a guy who sticks his tongue out like a kid when he loses at Twister."
Fletcher laughed. He hadn't even realized he had done it, let alone that she noticed. But hey, if it helped him seem less scary, he didn't mind looking stupid.
"That's a relief."
Sadie tilted her head. "Does my opinion really matter so much to you?"
