Dusk called his henchmen from before back in and the last thing Sadie saw before the bag was put back on her head was Dusk smirking as he gave her a carefree little wave. She was dropped in an alley without any security cameras and she carried on fighting crime as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened so her parents wouldn't be suspicious.
Honestly, she couldn't believe that worked. It really had been a gamble.
She supposed all she had to do now was act like everything was normal until Saturday when he crashed her wedding. She couldn't deny she was nervous about what exactly that would entail. He had told her to brace herself for a good show, after all.
Sadie ended up worrying about it all week but kept her composure both in front of her parents and her terrible fiancé. Her face remained perfectly blank as always.
She wouldn't have survived as long as she had without a good poker face. Defiance had always been heavily punished.
