Ava had heard legends about stuff like that here in her world but hadn't realized it applied to actual fairies. The lore she was aware of and what she had seen were quite a bit different. It was ironic that someone who had deceived her so thoroughly couldn't actually lie.
"…do you want to play something else? I didn't realize we had an unfair advantage over you," she said a bit guiltily.
Ian shot her a smile. "It's fine. I might get lucky with my cards; you never know."
But he didn't. Three games in a row, he lost spectacularly. On the very last one he managed to get lucky enough that he only had to bluff once and the cards he got happened to be exactly what he needed to win. Everyone was surprised by that, most of all him.
