To Ava's great dismay, she didn't feel much better in the morning. She dreaded running into Ian and having to act like things for fine for the sake of any potential onlookers at work. And the inevitable one-on-one conversation they would have to have in order to get the answers she needed.
She ate the breakfast Kael prepared for her half-heartedly before getting ready for work. Letting her professionalism slip because her personal life was a wreck absolutely was not allowed if she wanted to keep her job.
She wore a nice outfit and made sure her hair and makeup were on point. Now all she had to do was fake smile her way through yet another day. She had done this countless times before so she tried to convince herself things would be fine.
Ian's expression was distinctly awkward when he greeted her on her way into the office. "Good morning, Ava. Are you feeling any better?"
