"Hey, um, just a heads up…my lawyer will probably be contacting you today wanting you to be a witness," Ace said as Cora was halfway through her pancakes. "You totally don't have to if you don't want to."
She shook her head vehemently but couldn't answer until she had swallowed. "Of course I'm going to testify!"
"But you'll have to see him again."
"I don't care about that! What I care about is you not getting in unnecessary trouble because of me. I'll do whatever I have to."
Ace frowned. "If you're sure…"
"I am," Cora said resolutely. "I won't let you take the fall for this. You were only defending me."
"Yeah but I went overboard with it and I'm sure his lawyer is going to try and use that against me. I did lose my head a little but I couldn't help it."
