"Is that safe?" Cora asked hesitantly.
Ace tried and failed to muffle a snort. She was worrying about a mechanic being safe in the car he had worked on personally? That was actually kind of cute.
"Yeah. Don't worry about it, Cora. She's still kicking. I'm just wondering if it's worth it for much longer from a financial standpoint. There's nothing dangerous about her. She's as fixed as she can be."
This seemed to reassure her. "Oh. That's good."
She didn't know what to say after that so she ended up handing off the cupcakes to him. It was a quick visit but wasn't the only one like that. She was serious about cupcake decorating and he ended up getting cupcakes from her twice more in the next week and a half.
The third time, he ended up going over early and watching her work. It was surprisingly mesmerizing.
