Chapter 129 - This Wasn't So Bad

Cora continued chatting with Rosetta about cosplay until Drew pointed out where Ace's car was. Sure enough, it was the same shade of yellow as the hat she gave him.

She knew he didn't drive it regularly. He used his motorcycle when the weather was nice and a beat-up old car that may have once been blue when it wasn't. He said it was because he didn't want to waste miles unnecessarily.

She didn't understand—weren't cars meant to be driven?—but took his word for it. He knew a lot more about cars and racing than she ever could.

The announcer began speaking and she sat up in her seat. She didn't want to miss anything in case Ace asked her about it later. She couldn't space out right now; she had to be a good friend!

It was terrible that she was trying to be a good friend to someone else on the anniversary of the death of her only other real friend but Janelle wouldn't fault her for it. She knew that much. She had wanted Cora to be happy.
