Cora couldn't do this. She sat in her car for nearly ten minutes before she got a text from Ace asking if she was there yet. That was what forced her out of the car on shaking legs.
She took a deep breath and forced herself to project confidence. She wasn't going to ruin things for him by making him worry about her. She had to act normal until everything was over and done with. She could break down once she got home.
Thankfully, she was in decent condition when she met up with him so he didn't see through her immediately. He smiled and looked happy that she came. That was good. It was the whole reason she was here.
"Hey, Cora! Thanks for coming."
"No problem," she lied. "So, uh, where do I go? I've never been to one of these before."
"Follow me. You can sit with Drew and Rosetta if you want but if you'd rather sit by yourself, that's cool too."
