"Thank you," Cora whispered. "I'm glad I met you."
Ace seemed to understand what she meant because he hugged her tighter. "I'm glad I met you too."
She had no idea why but she couldn't doubt his sincerity. He had done too much to show it. She would never understand his reasons but she believed his words.
Cora ended up going home in a bit of a daze. She put the cake in the kitchen and the art supplies he got her with the rest of them before flopping onto the couch. Today had been a real rollercoaster.
It took time to process everything. She still hadn't managed to do it fully by the time she next went to therapy. The only thing she knew for sure was that she wanted to be a better friend but wasn't sure how to do it considering the depth of her trauma about both friendship and soulmates.
"What am I supposed to do?" she asked desperately after explaining it all to Alison.
