"Welcome to Pitram." The excitement is evident in his smile as he roam his eyes to the city of Pitram.
She stared at him confusingly. The warmth of his smile made her chest twitched as she gradually turned her eyes to the view in front of her. The city of Pitram. This is the first time she came here. The villagers that are working hard. The houses and structures that are beautifully designed. The sun that are slowly falling. The birds that are flapping in the sky.
"This is your new home, Emerald." She turn her head back to him as he spoke.
Those sparks on his eyes is like stabbing her whole. But even still, this eyes is fascinating to watch, staring at her.
"Let's go?" He asked. He picked up their luggage and lead the way. Emerald obediently followed as she roam her eyes to the people they passed by.
"Please deliver this to the house of Villarez!"
"This wine is special! I bought it for a half price in Jutra City."
"Mom, I want that!"
"Mister! Long time no see!"
Some were talking happily, some were having a commotion, and some were alone. She can see the difference between these people. Their eyes speaks differently from one and another. The emotions that the people are showing is unknown for her. She can't understand them. But, it's indeed a wonderful sight.
"Emerald?" She startled when she heard her name called by him. "Oh? Are you watching them? They're beautiful, isn't it?"
She doesn't know how to respond to his question. Truly, they are beautiful. She can see the different colours on this people. They're like an abstract that combines in a canvas. The swiftness of their moves are like the swiftness of the strokes. And the flaws were like the center of the art that the abstract have.
"They... They are beautiful." She said while staring at the man in front of her.
"But?" He added like he knew what's on Emerald's mind.
"But... But I can't... understand them." She responded bravely.
The man smiled sweetly as he turned his eyes to the people that Emerald is watching. "You really can't understand someone if your eyes were close."
The frowned on her eyes started to manifest. The words that he speaks were confusing for Emerald. She knows that her eyes were obviously wide opened as she looked at the people. That's why, she doesn't understand what he was saying. She examines his eyes staring at the people nearby. The glow in his silver eyes is addictive to stared at. Emerald didn't know how this eyes works to understand someone.
"I... I don't understand." She murmured shyly.
The man laughed amusingly. "If your eyes can't see, try to listen." He said meaningful.
"Listen?"
"Hmm... But for now, let's go. Someone's waiting for us." He nodded as he continue to walk.
They reached the station wherein a couple of carriage were waiting for passengers. They walked towards in front of a small stall and saw a wooden-made carriage pulling by two black horses. It stopped in front of them and the door opened. A man wearing a black suit and hat is smiling at them. He went out of the carriage and greet them.
"Welcome back, Aslan!" The man shook his hand with Aslan. He looked at her as if asking who is she.
"My, my, my. This is Emerald Hereford from–"
"I am Emerald Hereford from Britalia! Nice to meet you!" She bowed respectfully towards the man.
The man's eyes widened as if he's not expecting her to be this respectful. 'To be this girl who bowed 90 degrees, is really nice.' He thought. He laughed in amusement while looking at the little girl in front of him.
"Emerald, huh. I am Grotel Shrevour. Nice to meet you too, Emerald."
"Enough for introduction. The sun's falling. Let's go to the Sonata house before it gets dark."
Aslan put their luggage inside the carriage and guided Emerald inside. Grotel sat in front of them as he ordered the rider to leave. They started to move and Emerald is watching the scenery outside. The two man talked random things as she reminisce about the happenings in the past months.
She was dragged here, at Pitram, by a mid-aged man named Aslan Warrion. A girl who doesn't know anything in this world starting to glimpse on the truth of the 'outside'. Like a dog chained in a cage, are now gradually being torn.
"Huh?" After the creaking sound coming from the window, someone spoke.
Emerald looked up at the side where a guy, older than her, staring at her dumbfounded. He was wearing a white coat paired with a black slacks and necktie. His raven hair swayed as the wind blown from the outside. 'He's from the royal family.' She thought.
She knew what a royalty wore because she was been in some royal family just to served as a slave.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" The guy asked.
When he started to walk towards Emerald, she immediately moved back and clanging the chain that are connected to her slim ankle. The guy realised what's on her ankle. He followed the trace of the chain using his eyes and stopped on the metal tube connected to the floor and ceiling.
"You've been chained?" He asked, as if he was asking himself, too. "How come this Orphanage... is this... how..."
As his mind was in the state of chaos, Emerald stared at him. Just like the clouds that passed by on his thoughts, Emerald's eyes can only see the sun emitting in front of her. The bright and unreachable sun emerge through the darkness.
