Chapter 4 - THANK YOU

Hashiro gently took the paper from Hitori, Hashiro first took a deep breath and began to read the paper:

"I want to talk"

Hashiro glanced at Hitori, then continued to read:

"I don't know why... I didn't have this problem before, but people started to move away from me. Whenever I talk about the things I like, they either laugh and make fun of it, say they don't like it, or look at me in a strange way. And before... I was really a different person, and... I don't want to talk about what I was like before. They ostracized me, they pushed me away, I tried to rejoin their group but each time they rejected me more and more... So I distanced myself from people because they all, without exception, avoid me, or just stand by me to not to look like a bad person. Still, i knew in inside, they just found me boring and uninteresting, thats why i tried to help them and i also started to move away from people. But when I distanced myself from people, I stopped talking with anyone and right now it is just very difficult for me to talk anymore. I just scared of talkç I have to put everything in my head in a certain order and put it into words in a short time... But what if i mess up and ruin everything? I can't. I just cant... And now, no one notices me, rather than being excluded...It makes me feel much worse, I just want to chat, I just want to talk.

I just want to be recognized…"

After reading the paper, Hashiro looked at Hitori, came closer and whispered in his ear.

"After lunch, come to literature class."

Hitori looked at Hashiro in confusion, it had been 4 months since the literature club had been closed due to a shortage of members. Why was Hashiro calling him to an empty classroom, he wanted to ask that but hesitated, Hitori just glanced at Hashiro and shook his head.

Hitori was waiting for Hashiro in the literature class, watching Furatto-Sama: Love Has Won on the phone because he had nothing to do. It was an anime about pressure from two elitist students from the student council to confess their love to each other. He thought to himself, the entire people in student council were friends with each other, they had no economic concerns or social problems, they were all either rich or smart enough to study at this elitist academy. They met together outside of school, and even went to the festival at season finale, which is also the season finale of every romantic highschool anime. He was upset, thinking that these might be normal things for others, but Hitori had never even hang out with anyone outside of school before. He stopped watching the anime after thinking about it, it was a good anime to watch, but when he was in deep thoughts, watching this anime hurt Hashiro. It was absurd to watch this life that he probably would never live. It was fun, but also silly and pathetic.

5 minutes later, Hashiro came to the classroom, Hitori quickly put the phone in his pocket before Hashiro saw it. Hashiro calmly approached Hitori. Hitori was embarrassed, looked at her slowly, her face was really proportional and beautiful. Her pupils were large and a shade of dark blue. Her long purple hair was in a ponytail and was swaying slightly in the wind from the classroom's window. Just as he was about to dive into watching her, Hitori suddenly remembered where he was, came to his senses and prepared to pull out his notebook to talk to Hashiro. He put his hands in his pocket, but the notebook was not there. Hitori panicked and looked desperately at Hashiro.

Hashiro took a piece of chalk from his pocket and wrote on the blackboard:

"Do you want to talk?"

Happily and surprised, Hitori came near Hashiro, she smiled and handed the chalk to Hitori.

That day, Hitori felt a bond had formed between them. There was an hour break after lunch in high school, and Hashiro and Hitori spent the whole break communicating through blackboard.

They talked about pets, they talked about music and they talked about anime. Their tastes were completely different, Hitori was a dog person, liked dubstep music which is a genre of EDM, and liked reletable comedy, romance and isekai anime. Hashiro, on the other hand, was a cat person, liked pop music and only liked some dark fantasy anime and only a few animes she knew.

But that didn't matter to Hitori, because finally someone was talking to him willingly and without getting bored. It was the first time someone had noticed him after middle school, so he was happy.

Before the bell rang, Hashiro asked Hitori one last question:

"What is your dream, Hitori?"

Hitori wrote:

"I want to have a friend group, a good social life and i want to be able to talk. And I want to be noticed."

Hashiro smiled and wrote:

"I think I can help, i can find some friends that match your personality, I know a lot of people from this high school, and you might get along with some of them."

Hitori opened his eyes happily and looked at Hashiro, he was happy and nearly jumped with joy, then realized that Hashiro was watching him and corrected his behavior. He took a deep breath and wrote two words on the board:

"Thank you."
