Chapter 56 - Split

"I know you're not going to change your answer, but are you absolutely positive you have to do this?" I asked.

"Alaster, do you really think I'd leave Milim behind if there was?" Velda asked.

"Fair point," I responded slightly defeated.

"A human like you need not worry about Master Veldanava's safety. If he needs anything, he can call upon me." Feldway chipped in.

I gave Feldway a glare but said nothing, reaching my hand out to Velda for him to shake. Velda looked at it for a second then smiled softly. Without another word, he shook my hand firmly and we parted like men. I definitely didn't start tearing up.

"Big Bro..." Velzard cried, running up and giving Velda a big hug after I said my peace.

"Whoa there, Velzard..." Velda said as he softly hugged her back. "This isn't a goodbye, it's a 'See you soon.' " He commented.

"Don't go stealing my lines to sound cool!" I quipped but stopped when Lilith kicked my leg to shut me up. "Ow! You've been so mean to daddy for a while now, Lil!" I complained but was ignored by everyone including Lilith who pouted.

"Don't worry!" Rudra called out after Velda finished hugging Velzard. "By the time you return, I'll have conquered the world. Then I'll have you half of it." He said.

"What are you the Demon King?" I muttered under my breath.

"No, that would be me." Guy replied to my mutter as he stepped up with arrogance. He turned his head to face Velda and his expression softened slightly. "Get this done as soon as possible. I want a rematch when you're at full power."

Velda rolled his eyes and smiled. "How about you beat Alaster first, then we can talk."

"No way, I can't analyze that Primitive magic of his with my skill. I wouldn't gain anything from it!" Guy replied.

"Nice way to say that you'd lose, Guy-sama." Rain muttered.

"Rain, you'll be purged if you keep that up." Misery replied to Rain.

"But Misery, you know its true!" Rain complained.

"True as it may be, you still can't say it." Misery chided.

"Misery, you just admitted it yourself..." I commented.

"...You two..." Guy was gritting his teeth in annoyance and radiating a malicious aura, but we all ignored the two primordial idiots and their boss and continued with our goodbyes.

"Don't worry big brother. I'll take care of Veldora for you when you're gone." Velgrynd commented.

"Haha... try not to kill him as much, ok?" He asked following an awkward laugh.

"How rude, only a brute like a certain someone would do that! Veldora deserves to be pampered by his sisters. I'll only discipline him a little bit whenever he goes on a rampage." Velgrynd defended herself.

"You trying to say something about me, huh?" Velzard shot back at her younger sister.

"Only that I feel bad for Yumina if her mother was such a brute," Velgrynd replied.

The two women gave each other death glares with lightning sparking between the two of them, but they both held back so as not to miss Velda's departure with one of their fights over the philosophy of the Veldora problem. Much like the primordials, the rest of us ignored them, though Rudra and I gave brief apologetic looks to one another for our partner's behavior.

"Geez. Is this such a big deal?" Dagruel complained.

"Of course, the fact that a brute like Veldora is related to the magnificent Master Veldanava is appalling. He is no better than a lowly creature like a demon who destroys the creation of the master for pleasure. That idiot deserves to be laid low." Feldway commented just a little too loudly.

"Um, Feldway, I think you should run now..." Dino advised.

"And why would I do that, Dino?" Feldway asked back, only to have his face met by two fists, one from Velzard and the other from Velgrynd, which sent him flying.

Both women looked like fierce goddesses, with a thick and menacing aura surrounding them and fire in their eyes. "Whose brother are you spouting about, little angel!?!" Velzard replied. "I'll kick your ass!" Velgrynd added.

As Feldway landed, he looked up to see Guy, Misery, and Rain looking down on him with smiling mouths but not smiling eyes. "So, we demons are 'lowly' are we?" Guy commented.

"Ah... he's dead," I muttered as all five of them began to wail at Feldway who was shouting at Velda for help.

Velda laughed lightly as he watched the scene for a moment before finally calming himself down. He smiled softly at this and looked over all of us. "I'm going to miss you guys. See you in a few years."

Everyone stopped what they were doing at this sentence with Rain's hand raised slightly with a rolling pin she'd gotten from somewhere and Velgrynd biting one of his wings. We all looked over at Velda who turned around and approached his patiently waiting wife Lucia. As he arrived at her side, the two shared one last look back before Velda and Lucia held hands and placed their foreheads together. They began to flow a golden and white light for a moment, and then they were gone in a flash.

Velzard approached me the moment they left. The two of us hugged for a while before separating. I looked into her sky-blue eyes and gave her one last kiss on her forehead. "Feeling better?" I asked.

"Yup, my energy reserves are going up again slowly." She replied.

"That's good," I responded.

Originally, the plan that Velzard and I came up with to regain her full strength after childbirth was for her to die, thus resetting her existence to what it should have been. I'd then use [Supremacy King Shiva]'s [True Dragon Release [Frost]] to summon her back like how Rimuru can summon back Veldora after he died, but only one can exist at a time. We were trying to circumvent the power loss from childbirth, but when we told Velda that, he just sighed and gave me a lecture.

He said that he'd just use his administrator's access to reset Velzard's energy values to before childbirth when he left reality to begin fixing things. We decided that the restoration of Velzard's true power would be the first thing he did to let us know if he succeeded or not. That was why Velzard insisted on naming Yumina herself rather than having me do it because she'd just get the power back anyway.

Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY thankful to Velda for this, since I never really liked the fact Velzard was going to die in our original plan and there was no guarantee it would work.

Now that everyone had said their goodbyes and there really wasn't much left to do, everyone decided to part ways. Feldway, Zalario, and Cornu returned to the Heavenly Star Palace quickly and discretely while everyone was distracted. Mostly because Feldway probably didn't want to continue his beat-down from earlier.

Rudra, after making some half-hearted attempts to draw me to his side in him and Guy's 'game', left with Velgrynd back to Nasca. An Emperor couldn't be away from his territory for too long, after all, and I'm sure Velgrynd's [Parallel Existance] hated doing all of his paperwork for him. Besides, he had an apprentice now. Someone by the name of Granbell, which sounded familiar, but I decided wasn't important enough to look into.

Guy tried to wryly me up for a quick sparring session but left when I offered to summon Noir to fight him instead since he was so eager. Rain and Misery followed after their master, but not before Rain offered to make a painting for Yumina and Milim. She tried to ask for my soul as payment but settled for some high-quality alcohol instead before parting ways.

Dagruel left at some point throughout it all, only leaving Dino, Pico, Gracia, and Obera behind. The Four Angels of Origin were looking lost as to what to do now that everything was settled. Velzard and I looked at them for a moment as if to imply 'what are you doing? When will you be leaving?' and whatnot.

Dino was the first to open his mouth. "So, um... my job is to observe humans and stuff and to report it to Master Veldanava- I mean master Velda..." He said.

I gave him a surprised and confused look. "So~..." I goated him on into continuing.

"How exactly am I supposed to give him my reports now that he's outside the multiverse?" He finished.

"Ah!" I said.

"So can I stay over at your place?" He asked, slightly hopeful.

"Only if you're willing to work. I have plenty of need for strong guild administr-" I began but was interrupted.

"I wonder if Dagruel is doing ok? It's been a while since I talked to him! I'll go see if he's willing to let us stay for a bit while we catch up!" Dino immediately responded, flying away.

"Oy! Useless leader! Get back here!" Pico barked, unfurling her wings and chasing after him.

Gracia sighed in exhaustion and shook her head. "Those two..." before taking off after them, leaving only Obera.

I turned to look at the woman who was standing there awkwardly as I waited for an explanation. "If it's all the same to you, I will be protecting Milim-sama." She reported.

"I don't exactly mind, but if you're staying with us can you put Yumina on your guard list too?" I asked with a small sweatdrop on my forehead.

Obera smiled. "Very well. Shall I call you boss?" She joked.

"Just call me Alaster like always." I smiled.

"Tch!~ Another rival?" Velzard muttered quietly

"I'm sorry what was that?" I asked, pretending not to have heard it.

"It was nothing!" Velzard replied with a bright smile.

"I see..." I replied as I decided to drop that topic and return home.
