He looked at me. His eyes pleading to be saved. Fear apparent on his pale white face as the car slowly got off the ground. He held his breath and shut his eyes, embracing himself for impact.
I closed my eyes and bowed my head. His mothers scared face popped into my head. His twin brother on the side screamed in pain shock and fear.
He didn't at all try to save himself. The others he was with attempted to protect themselves. But he didn't. Not even a slight movement. He just let himself go.
Whirls of spells and maves of magic formed around as their ancestors fought to intercept the spells of the assailants, but I knew even as time was moving very slow that it was a losing battle.
Shay looked at me. Then at the battles around. Tied ghosts forced to fight the ancestors of the swans, whilst other cars sped to ram into the car with the princes.
The humans and the swans, if i hadn't slowed time, would be lying in a pile of blood, but they would be in a short moment. They were running out of their cars with swords and guns drawn.
But their guns were not going to catch any of the assailants. There was a rather high frequency force field around the scene. The very same one i last saw on mars during the war with the gods. No speeding bullet or anything moving at the speed an eighth the speed of sound was going to go through it. They would all disintegrate.
Those with swords might do something, but i doubted the fibres of the other spell i felt forming would allow any of them to use their swords.
The assassins really did come prepared with all the cheatcodes of earth. Who the fuck were they? One would think they were once saints or judges.
I searched for the assassins and found them in the shadows. Three were spinning a spell. Half a mile away. I had to give them a hand.
They were positioned as accurately as the pyramids were. Same distance from one another. Sitting with folded feet, their feet angle so accurately the edges of their triangles could fit perfectly between their folded legs. Bad news, we were in the center of their triangle.
Their powers, still, was different. Not the ones I've seen all my life. But older and raw. Like the powers of Nyx. But not really it.
The spirit of the late swan sped to me with her sword drawn and burning any spirit that found its way close to her. It was certain my slowing of time didn't slow her. Her husband saw me, but he was slower.
As she approached us, her face begged for the lives of her little ones. But she couldn't talk. The weight of slowed time slowed everything from moving.
"Save them, please." She begged, kneeling not far from our bubble. "Please I'll do anything."
"Stop all of this." Shay requested looking around us.
"I save them, it doesn't end. He will hunt another, they would come again," i told Shay without looking at her.
"I'll take responsibility of them." She bargained. "Please, call it my favour. please."
I looked at the kneeling queen. Tears dropped from her eyes as she showed me the other set of twins being attacked on a bus in Zaramelha. They looked exactly like these. One would think they were quadruplets. But i knew they were not.
But why didn't I see it?
Please! The ladies begged further.
I looked at the ghosts fighting the angels, not at their own volition. They are the ones I should save.
I reduced the time bubble to only me and slowed time around me until it was almost at a stop. I then unfolded my wings and flapped them seven times. Lightning flashed all over, striking everything around and ionizing the air so much it every hair within my own wave circle, stood on its end. Even oxygen turned a bit into ozone.
I folded them again and snapped my fingers, almost like performing the sweeping spell, only with steroids.
Everything eploded in a white light as my own sweeping spell flew half the continent shattering all spells it encountered. Even my time dilation dome.
I stumped the ground once stopping its expansion before it broke those far from here. The explosion returned three seconds later and i accepted the energy with open arms. I absorbed all the energy, stopping it from breaking anything.
As the ghost realized they were free from their shackles, i took Shay who had her ears covered and walked away. The assassins dropped like ants as the spirits of the swan ancestors got up from the ground.
The car continued its roll but the swans stopped it. Anubis arrived just as I left and quickly gathered the ghosts who turned to look at my direction. The source of the explosion.
They saw the queen, gleaming white, and bowing, they did the same just before Anubis herded them off.
Shay, as I sat on the table and ate grass, stared at me I definitely feared I was about to grow holes. The keeper looked at me too, like I wasn't the same as yesterday.
"What?" I asked putting the cutlery down and staring at them. my nose started to itch.
"How did you do that? Do you like feel lightning shooting out of you? Or do you just feel normal?" Shay blurted out.
i looked at her and she immediately tuned everything down.
"you really did ascend." Cyraon added and I couldn't pay much attention to his words. If i did ascend then why wasn't i glad of it?
He got off his chair and gave me an ancient salute. The shoulder hug salute and a bowed head.
I looked away knowing exactly what it would mean. I wasn't ready for it yet.
Shay got up and did it too.
"Don't," I growled at him. My nose became even worse.
Just as I saw a guardian corp ship descend above acardia, I sneezed and something yanked me as I emanated lightning into the room.
I fell back and opened my eyes as I slammed to the ground. Where the fuck am I again? i wondered as i looked around. Everything was different. Way too different from Cyraon's house.
I recognized it.
I was in a temple. Very old temple. But it still looked clean, new and well taken care of.
The guardians fell apart two thousand years ago. Why was the temple of the guardian okay?
Did the time guardian yank me?
I slowly looked to its entrance and saw the amazon army, run towards the temple entrance.
Was I in Themiscyra? why... I turned for the door.
"Khumet laula she yauza maushi zhutzo..." The incense sticks burning in front of the altar of the guardian started whispering. But that can't be right.
Behind the altar, I saw light radiating from the holy place. I felt like a deer caught in the spotlight at night. My body started moving on its own. Towards the light.
I looked at all the murals in the hall leading to the hall the holy place.
But my attention wasn't as captivated as it was by the mural of the lightning bolt holstered in the air as Zeus waved his bolt. Zeus' master bolt was being fed by the divine bolt in the sky.
I read its story. It wasn't the first bolt. Zeus wasn't the first wielder of the master bolt. Someone was. The master bolt wasn't a single weapon. It was a piece of Eight. The eighth piece of another weapon that was dismantled years before the gods first fought.
As the Amazon warriors burst into the temple, I went blank and fell. I felt energy ooze out of me as I crashed.
