she smiled so beautifully as she played with the animals, my heart simply melted as I saw I happiness on her face I almost felt guilty about what I was going to do next to her. I've watched her for the past week trying to make sense of what I've told her. now I was going to tell her something no one inside her scope of existence knew.
I got up and walked into the room we had come here through its door. I left the door open in case she grew scared I had left, and I switched Thoth's access to this island on.
"Thoth," I called as I started making something to eat. while I told her the Guardian history.
"Sir." Thoth replied.
"I need access to the Guardian files, File 301." I spoke. File 301 was an in-depth summary of guardian history and the illustrated version of it.
"Sir, I would not recommend access to that file sir, ninety percent of all recruits have an emotional meltdown, sir, even those that have seen battle, sir. Don't you remember what it did to you five thousand years?"
"Okay." I remembered what he referred to, and quickly brushed the idea off my head. "What would you recommend?"
"I would recommend you telling her briefly, in words that she could understand. a documentary format would be okay, a date format would even be better. But I would suggest outside."
"Why not here? I can show her pictures and everything."
"Outside would be fine, this house does not have even in the slightest offer familiarity or comfort to any human." I looked at the refrigerator I was in the process of opening. It was a SAMSUNG fridge. Man-made, and two years old.
Then to the room. It was all wood, even the curved ceiling because it was crafted into a tree root. It may not have a tile floor or any patterns, but it was okay. Plus, it wasn't completely brown, it had white stripes two feet wide parallel to the floor, and the stripes were over a meter apart. The living room… okay it may be a slight problem because it looks like seven huge mushrooms were perfectly growing on the floor, but they were couches and could take shape required by the sitter, couch, or bed, depending on the user. Okay, I didn't have a tv, or a stand, or anything in front of it, it was but a huge brown wall.
I could change that.
"what's wrong with my house?"
"Question I've been saving up, are trying to recreate a scene from a fairy tale?" Thoth replied me using a recording of Shay when I showed her the design to this house six years ago. Probably right. But that wall was just a display, brown calms me.
"Okay," I tapped the stomped the ground with my feet creating a television stand out of Xirang, as I took the vegan burger patty's out of the fridge and placed them into the defroster. As I place the rest of the ingredients on the kitchen top. "Thoth, would you care to help me, something quick to eat, that we have ingredients for." I asked.
"I would love to sir, but I do not have permission…"
"Any permission you need granted, but don't look human." I said and went outside knowing fully well that he was going to use create a body for himself with the Xirang I have on the next room.
I leaned on the door as I watched her sniff different flowers by the fountain. I scratched my head. I know I am old, but did I come here with a child not a twenty-year-old? The bunnies and small animals were resting not far from her, but they certainly were tired. Wasn't she? And how long can her energy remain? Flow…
Shit!
I almost forgot.
"Whoa, whoa whoa, don't!" I said running to her. She turned and looked at me almost puzzled.
"What? What are these?" she asked her hands touching the yellow flowers I hadn't figured out what they were yet.
"don't smell the flowers." I said moving her hands away from them. She looked at me as if she was hurt.
"I'm sorry but, most of the flowers here are pretty… unusual. Most of them are toxic. And you don't wanna know what they are." I said pointing at the one she was just about to touch. Her eyes enlarged at the word toxic but most around the fountain weren't deadly. I think.
"Those I just planted a few weeks ago so I am not sure if they are toxic." I looked at her hands as she did and saw the blisters forming. Fuck.
I took the dew in the leaves and formed a small bubble in her hand and led her to the house.
"Ouch!"
"Ow."
"It burns," she said as I treated the wounds with ointment. This moment is the very one I hated. Why couldn't I heal her?
"What happened to asking if you could touch flowers first?" I asked her.
"You didn't warn me that they were dangerous."
"You didn't know what they are."
"I wanted to know what they are. So, what are they?" she asked as I got up with the first aid kit and returned it to the wall, I always hung it on.
"it's a rose variant that went extinct two thousand years ago. Like almost the plants out there."
"Extinct?" she asked. "That plant is extinct?"
I nodded. "It grew in the middle east but, the nukes wiped out after the last war."
"Nukes?" she asked. I keep forgetting that I never told her everything. And Thoth, when we got her sealed the kitchen off. "I don't think… ain't you going to tell me?"
"I don't know where to start." I said sitting next to her. I could smell the food cooking, I just hoped that Thoth didn't burn them or anything. "Okay let me start, with the war... but if I start with the war, I have to go back a few millions years, to tell give you the origin of everything, would that be okay."
"where you alife then?"
"no, I was born or made somewhere between ten thousand and seven thousand years ago, i don't remember the exact date, but I just remember being refusing to take on a being a guardian, even changing myself to look like a human five thousand years ago and the bombs dropping while i was outside the city. but its what everyone of the ancient guardians say.
"so you... didn't want to be a guardian?"
"used to, but, i am one, nothing can change that, no matter how many times i die." she held my hand and squeezed it, softly. "i'm sorry." she said in a soft voice.
"it's okay. so where was i? oh yeah." i remembered i was just about to tell her the origin of the war. "So, somewhere between sixty six million years ago and Sixty five million years age, some Aliens, refugees, i'd call them, from Procyon, i think, came to earth while exploring the universe or running. They stumbled upon Earth and landed on Antactica, those days, earth wasn't as cold as it is now. but it was hotter and dinosaurs as you know, existed then.
they set their base there and started exploring earth. it is said that the strangers, were peaceful and didnt try to change the planet at all but rather searched for a resource, Copper."
"why copper?" she asked.
"copper is way more valuable in space compared to gold. plus, if you use copper right you can make a different things, even bend space and that is what they did. they built a gateway somewhere in Africa..."
"what gate was it?"
"it was a portal to another "dimension", you could say."
"okay,"
"okay, having made the gate, they started stocking up on resources, and calling their friends to earth. now while they were on earth and calling their friends here, another gate was opened somewhere beyond pluto, and out came the strangers from another world. they heard the call and went to earth. a miscommunication between the refugees from procyon and the strangers from another world led to a war. And well, the refugees managed to escape again through the star gate, but six of the refugees where left guardin the gate, while the strangers detonated a hydrogen bomb which, as you know, led to the extinction of the dinosaurs."
"dinosaurs were killed by a Bomb?"
"yeah, A hydrogen bomb. not a meteor."
"i thought it was a meteor."
"it wasn't."
"but the scientist... what about the dust? why weren'twe found the casualties? or proof of it? or..."
"i cant answer if you ask too many questions at once." I interrupted her as she began flowing with questions. "the dust, it wasnt... " i remembered the hydrogen bomb trial the Americans made in 1952. if i use knowledge of it, she can answer herself.
"let me ask you two question. successive. did you know that the USA made and tested a Hydrogen bomb in 1952?"
"no,"
"Tsar bomb?"
"no." i sighed. this was going to be a long day.
"do you know why a nuclear bomb forms a mushroom cloud when it detornates?"
"it creates a hot bubble of gas which rises."
"okay, take that mushroom and multiply it over ten times. add a heat wave and chain reaction of a fission bomb on water, that would certainly be a lot of steam. Now what happens when there is too much water vapour on the air?"
"clouds form and rain..." she looked like she gets it. but to be safe, lets drive the point home.
"temperatures fall, clouds form, but if you take the conditions after the detornation, you get icebergs cooler planet, a storm and huge clouds which make the planet even cooler."
"that is not how it happens."
"it is. instantly heat water to over 100 million Kelvin, over large distances for a few seconds you get too much vapour, vapour drops the temperature, the shock wave also reduces temperature..."
"no it doesn't, i know my sciences..." i looked at her, really? i mean really?
"a shock wave is like a sound wave, it produces insignificant heat, it doesn't drop the temperature." she asserted an i looked at her. "that's at contact, what about behind the shock wave? doesn't airplane exhaust freeze thought it was burning second before?"
"it's thousand of feet above ground level."
"its a shock wave, air is instantly moved further away, fast, then replace by fast moving air and fast moving air, cools down fast."
she frowned.
"anyway, a huge cloud, blocks the sun, dropping the temperature further, the cloud moves towards the poles. making them even colder and the poles blow cold air towards the equator, the warm air at the equator moves to the poles, further cooling the planet further down."
"okay, you make sense. but how does that lead to the war. well, for a start, we have the first of the three parts in the war, the Guardians."
"the guardi... the guardians of the gate are...." she looked at me and i smiled.
"yes, the remaining six Guardians were and are my ancestors." i told her and added, "my original ancestors come from procyon."
