Niall simply laughed at my advice before he waved and left. Meanwhile, I stayed on the balcony until morning. I couldn't sleep—I didn't even want to.
I watched as the night sky slowly changed into a deep azure color until the sun peeked from the east. Again, the sun was rising without conditions. Whatever happened last night, no one and nothing would stop it from rising, devouring the darkness that enveloped the world.
"Children who simply want to make their mother happy," I whispered as Niall's words hovered over my head over and over and over again. "Mother, have you heard your child? It's your fault again."
Of course, she had heard Niall's cries. She just chose to pretend she didn't. Our mother, our creator, was a selfish being. I didn't know if she was foolish or too smart. But what I was certain of was that she was someone no one could understand.
