Ashen stared in disbelief at the notifications flooding his screen. He had just leveled up three times in one go. The experience points were massive, far exceeding his expectations. He hadn't realized that Barok the Goblin King would be the first-ever Wild Boss to be defeated in the game.
"I hope this global announcement doesn't attract too much unwanted attention," Ashen muttered to himself, feeling a twinge of concern. With all eyes on him now, the spotlight might bring challenges he wasn't entirely ready for.
After taking a deep breath, he glanced down at the loot scattered around the fallen Goblin King. A large treasure chest had appeared along with several rare items, glowing faintly on the ground. Ashen hurriedly picked up every piece of loot, securing it in his inventory. There was no time to waste—he still had to rescue the captives held in the nearby prison.
---
Inside the crude wooden prison, a group of villagers huddled together, their faces filled with relief when they saw Ashen approaching.
"Hero! You saved us!" A young villager exclaimed, stepping forward with tears of gratitude in his eyes. "We owe you our lives. Thank you isn't enough for what you've done for us."
Several other villagers quickly gathered around, expressing their deep thanks. Some extended their hands, others bowed, their eyes brimming with admiration and hope.
Ashen, feeling slightly overwhelmed by the outpouring of gratitude, smiled warmly. "You don't need to thank me," he said, his voice calm and reassuring. "As a fellow human, it's my responsibility to help those in need."
His words seemed to touch the hearts of the villagers even more deeply. They looked at him with renewed respect, now viewing him not just as a hero, but as a compassionate and selfless individual.
"We will never forget what you've done for us," one of the older villagers spoke, his voice trembling with emotion. "If there is anything we can do to repay you, we are at your service."
Ashen gave a modest shake of his head, trying not to make a big deal of his actions. But before he could respond, a thought crossed his mind. He remembered the village chief's daughter, the one who had informed him about the dire situation in the first place.
"Before I leave, can you tell me if the Village Chief is among you?" Ashen asked, scanning the faces of the freed captives. "His daughter was the one who warned me about what was happening here. Without her, you might still be trapped in that cage."
A somber silence fell over the group. The villagers exchanged worried glances before one of the older men stepped forward to answer.
"Hero," the old man began, "though you have saved us, not everyone from our village has been freed. Many, including the Village Chief, were taken to the main *Goblin Camp*." His voice trembled slightly, a mix of fear and sadness weighing heavily in his tone. "We plan to gather our strength and go back to save those who remain captured. The Village Chief is among them."
Before Ashen could reply, another villager stepped forward, his face etched with desperation.
"Hero, I know it's shameless of me to ask after all you've done... but can you help us one more time? Please, save our loved ones who are still trapped in that horrible place." His voice cracked with emotion, and tears welled up in his eyes.

Quest Received: Save the Villagers and Eliminate the Goblin Queen
Difficulty: E
Reward: Hidden Class Clue
[Accept] [Decline]
Ashen didn't hesitate for a second. "Of course, I'll help you," he replied confidently, accepting the quest. The thought of leaving these villagers to fend for themselves weighed too heavily on his conscience.
Relief washed over the villagers' faces as they thanked him again, but before anyone could rush off, one of the middle-aged men raised his hand to speak.
"Before we go, we need to prepare," the villager advised cautiously. "The Goblin Queen is much stronger than the Goblin King you've defeated, and she has an army of goblins protecting her. If we go in without resting, it will be nothing short of suicide."
Ashen nodded in agreement. He understood the importance of strategizing and preparing for battle. His own body felt the wear of the recent fight with the Goblin King, and rushing headlong into another encounter without recuperating would be reckless.
"You're right. Let's rest first and gather our strength," Ashen said. "We'll need to be at our best to take down the Goblin Queen."
With the plan set, Ashen logged out of the game temporarily, knowing that the real challenge was still ahead.
