Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Disbelief

Liberty Tower - Monitoring Room

Inside Liberty Tower, Chris Josh's team, consisting of staff members and monitors, gathered in the high-tech monitoring room. They were responsible for observing the activity within the game. Alongside the game's system itself, an estimated 100 people were assigned to oversee and monitor the progress of every kingdom currently available.

One of the monitors, a young man with keen eyes, caught sight of a particular player named Ashen, who was clearing the Timber Forest at an incredible speed. His movements were precise, his strategy impeccable. It was astonishing how quickly Ashen was leveling up.

"Boss, look at this guy!" the monitor exclaimed, pointing at the screen with a mix of awe and concern. "He's sweeping through one of the beginner maps. If he keeps this pace up, it's only a matter of time before he runs into one of the field boss monsters."

The man's worried tone echoed through the room, but Chris Josh, the mastermind behind the game, didn't seem fazed. Leaning back in his chair, a confident smirk played on his lips.

"Don't worry about it," Chris said, waving his hand dismissively. "This game is all about freedom. If he really encounters a field boss, then it's bad luck for him for disturbing it. Let the game flow naturally."

"But boss…" The monitor hesitated, clearly still concerned. "If we allow that to happen, our ratings might take a hit. It would feel unfair if an entire village got wiped out by a boss monster this early in the game."

Chris Josh chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "If the village falls, then they can always create a new one and start fresh. Sure, it'll be a tough road to catch up, but that's part of the challenge. It's not hopeless."

The monitor, not entirely reassured by Chris's casual response, glanced back at the screen, watching Ashen advance deeper into the forest. The threat loomed in the back of his mind. If the field boss wasn't taken care of in time, it could lead to catastrophic consequences. A rampaging boss monster could wipe out players, decimate their progress, and conquer villages, causing delays that would demoralize the player base.

In the early stages of the game, a massacre like that would be devastating.

Hours passed as the team continued to monitor Ashen's journey. The monitor's pulse quickened when Ashen finally received the quest to eliminate the *Goblin King*. The man paled.

"Please... decline it for the sake of the game's development," he muttered under his breath, clasping his hands together in a desperate gesture, almost like a prayer. He didn't believe Ashen stood a chance against the Goblin King. The quest was simply too difficult for someone at Ashen's level.

However, to his horror, Ashen accepted the quest without hesitation. The notification lit up across the screen, sealing his fate.

"Noooooo!!" The monitor's voice rang out, loud and panicked, catching the attention of the entire room.

Everyone turned to stare at him, annoyed by the sudden outburst.

"Hey, man, we're all working here. Keep it down!" one of his co-workers snapped, clearly irritated.

The monitor blushed, his face heating up in embarrassment. "Sorry," he mumbled, lowering his voice as he sat back down. But despite the scolding, his eyes remained glued to the screen, following Ashen's every move.

Moments later, Ashen began cutting through goblins and hobgoblins as if they were nothing. He moved with surgical precision, dispatching them with swift, lethal blows. There was a certain grace to his fighting style, a level of skill that caught the attention of more staff members in the monitoring room.

"Guys, look at this!" the monitor called out again, this time more composed but still full of excitement. "This guy's an expert! Maybe... maybe he can actually pull it off."

Several others crowded around the monitor's station, eyes widening as they watched the scene unfold.

"Holy shit," one of them muttered in disbelief. "Who is this guy? He's freaking strong."

"I still think he's gonna die," a middle-aged woman in the corner of the room chimed in skeptically, arms crossed. "Look at the Goblin King. He hasn't even noticed it yet. Three hits from that thing, and he's done for."

Just then, the thunderous sound of the Goblin King's fist smashing into Ashen echoed through the game's interface. The impact sent Ashen flying back, and his health bar plummeted.

"See? Told you. He's done for," the woman said with a smug grin, feeling satisfied that her prediction was on track.

But what happened next left everyone in the room speechless.

Despite the brutal hit, Ashen wasn't ready to give up. Through sheer determination, he regained his footing and closed in on the Goblin King. Then, with a cunning move, Ashen slashed at the boss monster's genitals in a bold and unexpected attack.

The room erupted in gasps.

"No way…" someone whispered in awe.

Ashen, without missing a beat, followed up with a relentless assault. The Goblin King, howling in agony, tried to fight back, but the pain was too much. And with a few more precise strikes, Ashen delivered the final blow, killing the Goblin King.

The room exploded with cheers.

"Yo! That was insane!" One of the staff members jumped up in excitement, fists pumping in the air. "He actually did it!"

Others clapped and cheered, thoroughly impressed by Ashen's performance.

Even Chris Josh, who had been cool and nonchalant before, raised an eyebrow, a smile creeping across his face. "Well, I didn't see that coming. With the first field boss eliminated, the game's progression is about to speed up."

The team continued to marvel at Ashen's victory, knowing that this moment would go down as one of his hard fought victory.
