Chapter 50 - A Green Vile From Knowles

Brendon's POV:

'BRENDON!' Viv's voice shouted. Everyone seemed to be silent from her voice. I felt pure shock and surprise. How did that man... grow a blade out of his arm? I never heard of anything like it before. Just like how Eder disappeared, the man left my sight. Leaving me in the path of a wolf's attack. I cringed as our wolf forms crushed together. But he wrapped me up in his arms to secure my fall. He was so fast. With transforming mid-air and making sure my impact would be light to the ground. I sustained enough injures that I'm sure would leave me upon death soon. Steele was nearby. I was impressed by this wolf's speed. I sniffed his scent.

This is an alpha. He must be the alpha's son. He's too young to be an alpha... He was maybe Cole and Nena's age. If that.

As soon as the head of the vampires disappeared both sides broke out in another war. Wolves raced to kill vampires as they tried to escape. It seemed like as soon as that man was gone the wolves from both our packs broke out into war with the remaining vampire. Forcing some to disappear all together or die at our teeth.

The alpha's son sat me down gently and looked up in alarm as Vivienne rushed to my side. 'BRENDON!' Vivienne blurted out in tears. She was on the brink of destruction. The pain wasn't anything compared to seeing her face this way. I wanted to cheer her up. I felt my bones snap suddenly as I transformed human. I could no longer sustain being in the wolf form. I felt pain cross my face but tried to hide it from her. I instead reached up and patted Vivienne on the head. She transformed as well so we could talk now.

'How bad is it Steele?' I asked softly. I could feel light headed.

'You'll be with the moon goddess soon,' he muttered. 'You won't make it.' I loved how straight forward and no bullshit he could be towards me.

Vivienne looked like Arwen told her as well. She bit back tears to try to speak clearly. "Brendon, you can't die now." She suddenly gripped my shoulders and sent a glare that made my spine shudder. She suddenly looked towards the man that caught me. The look she sent him was like she blamed him for everything.

"My apologies," He said as his eyes held sorrows of his own. "It's okay. I'm Alpha Aaragorn of Blacktail Growlers."

"Alpha?" I asked in alarm. "What happened to your parents?"

"They're with the moon goddess," Alpha Aaragorn muttered. He looked down into my eyes. "Thank you for coming here."

"We had a border run-in with Malakai."

"Yes, we hoped he'd make it safely. Just in case our messenger didn't."

"Did Fang make it here safely?" I asked softly. I have to give my succession over before I take my last breath. And, he's all I can think of. He will be the only one I can rest easy on leaving Blair with.

"He came back with news Mal reached the borders safely and I haven't seen him since..." He trailed off. "I saw my parents die."

'No one's seen Fang?' I asked the pack.

I listened in on their worried thoughts for me and Fang.

Unfortunately, it came up empty.

Calix walked up to me drenched in blood. It wasn't his. He looked at Vivienne in his wolf form before looking at me. 'How bad is it?' Calix asked as his ears lowered. Blair's father is truly a worthy wolf.

"I won't live," I told him as I took Viv's hand and gave it a squeeze. Calix growled sharply in anger.

'We should have never came then,' he growled as he looked at Aaragorn like it was his fault. 'This was their problem. Not ours.'

'Your kid's mother was why I came. I wouldn't take it back for nothing," I told him.

'Where is she?' He asked.

'I think she's dead,' Vivienne's voice echoed through our mind. 'We were too late. And, irresponsible.'

"I would die a thousand deaths for you," I snapped. "To protect you and whoever you love. If that means saving this pack because you want it... I will. If I have to die for this pack to live.. I will do it all for you," I told her. She's not Aaliyah. But, I love her in the place of a mate. That means I am loyal to her.

"You're my one and only," she told me as she sniffled.

I felt suddenly light headed. The faint smell of Steele was comforting as his voice echoed in my mind, 'you're about to loose consciousness,' he warned me.

"Vivienne, I don't have much time," I told her. "The pack is in your hands."

I barely was able to hold my eyes open. I could feel the forest calling for me. Like it was my time to go. I felt my eyes starting to shut as a weight hit me.

No.

I'm not ready to die yet.

I have so much left to do.

I want to protect my pack.

Give Vivienne a shot at having children.

I have so many duties to complete.

"MOVE!" I heard someone shout from the bottom of the slope. Our heads turned as I saw a cloaked individual shoving wolves aside and heading towards me. My pack growled and were about to attack him when he held up a green vile. Inside looked like a red liquid. "Do you want to save your alpha?" He asked.

'VAMPIRE!' I heard my pack warning. They looked ready to attack but were uncertain now. He wasn't showing any danger.

"Eder?" Vivienne asked in hopes. She stood up to get a better view. "Is that you?"

EDER?

I growled slightly as I glared down a path that was created to let that dick come straight to us. The man walked up to us and yanked off his cloak as he knelt down next to me. He suddenly bowed his head politely at me. "I am a knight of Eder. I took an oath under him and he warned me to come here immediately at this time, with this," he raised the vile. "To give to you."

"How can we trust you?" I growled out.

"You don't have much of a choice," he warned.

"What is that?"

"Healing magic," he muttered.

"A potion of some sorts?" Aaragorn asked in alarm. "Can it help the dead?"

The knight raised his eyebrow. He chuckled and titled his head. "What did you just ask me?" He sounded amused.

"C-can it-"

"Don't ever ask that again," the knight snapped. "If I came here to save your dead I wouldn't be holding a mere vile. You greedy wolf," he snapped.

The packs growled.

"What?" The knight asked and looked around. "I am a necromancer. And, I do not practice that kind of magic," he snapped. "You're lucky I will make this for your alpha."

"You have one hell of a tongue on you," Calix growled in annoyance. "So, how do you... handle that liquid?"

"Drink up," the knight offered me. He held it up to my mouth and unscrewed a top from it. I raised an eyebrow.

'Should I?' I smelled the top of it. Steele growled.

'There's not much of a choice,' Steele muttered.

The liquid had no smell. But, I wasn't certain about there being a taste.

"Go ahead," he urged. He shoved it against my lips. "This will save you. There won't be any consequences."

"Maybe someone should taste it for poison," Aaragorn said in worry.

"Nonsense. We don't have that kind of time!"

Just like that, the knight forced it between my lips and poured in the content. I gaged as a taste of salt overcame me. "Swallow," the knight told me. I wanted to cry as I swallowed quickly. What was that shit?! I wheezed as I took in a sharp breath.

"You should clean his wounds and get him in a comfortable bed. You're staying the night," the knight warned. I felt an extreme feeling to rest then. "He'll be brand new in three hours," he promised. I heard him start to stand then.

"Where are you going?" Viv asked in alarm.

"Back to my master's side."

"Is he okay? We haven't heard from him. I figured if anything..."

"He's unconscious. Lamia poisoned him."

"What? Her own husband?"

"I think she knew he'd only be in her way. I'm working on a cure in secret to wake him up. I'm not sure what she used to knock him out but it won't be much longer and I'll have to formula ready."

"Thank you," Viv rushed out. "For coming here when you're so worried about Eder."

"I took a vow for him. This is what he asked of me."

"You're very loyal then. What's your name?"

"I am Sowle Knowles."

"Can you keep an eye on my brother Cole? He's there alone and I'm worried about him."

"Fine. But you'll owe me a favor in the future," the knight warned.

"Fine," Viv huffed out. "You can ask of me anything in the future."

I could see the knight walking off and Viv knelt down by me to check my pulse.

"You're going to be okay," she told me as I could see her fighting back tears again. "You'll be okay." And, with those promising words I felt the well deserving rest calling my name. I will be brand new... in three hours.
