As her recollections of childhood slowly mended, Nell realized what her mother was trying to say.
Her mother was not trying to scar a three year old her, but she was trying to brand those words in her memory. So that one day when Adult Nell remembers these words, she will have the guidance of the 'Oracle'.
She was the product of the lab. Nell, even as a child, was not so naive to think she would be a hero. She had always known that she was bred for war. More importantly, she liked war. She liked her martial art lessons, and she had no problems killing a rabbit unlike other children.
However, her mother hated it whenever Nell brought back a report card full of praise. The treatment of ' mothers of the seed ' as they were called differed based on how well their offspring performed.
Nell was the best.
Thus her mother had received the best treatment.
Yet, her mother could not wait for her to be the worst of the lot.
