Bang, Bang, Bang.
Dune heard the sound of his step mom, Ester, banging on his door at 6 like she did every morning. "Wake up you useless shit, it's already getting past 6. who is gonna do all these chores" she said.
"I'm coming out now" he said. He could hear her muttering to herself as she stormed away. Dune quickly got out of bed knowing his step mom's anger could get worse, and if it did he would not have a fun day.
As Dune entered the kitchen of his house he could see Ester siting at the table. "how long till I get my food boy" she says. This is her usual greeting for him as she never actually uses his name, due to her hating the name his real mother gave him she.
"Leave him be" says the man sitting next to her. "I'm sure he will get on it soon, won't you". he looks up at Dune expecting an answer immediately.
This man is non other then Dune's father, Michael Evens. He is a tall man with sharp features and a clean shaven face. Michael Evens is a very important man in certain circles due to being the co owner of a very famous game company called, Expanded imagination. The company is well know for their creation of the Full Body Diving VR epuipment, or 'Diving equip' for short by the people who use it.
"Of course, sorry I was just up to late last night and forgot my alarm" Dune replied. Which was wasn't wrong but he didn't tell them that he was using his dad's Diving equipment. The last time they caught him he was beaten black and blue on the ass and could walk or sit right for a week.
Ester huffed and turned to her husband " you need to force this boy to sleep early or how else am I supposed to get food on time. You know I have very important things to do in the morning". These important this she was referring to were getting her nails and make up done at 7 every day. The reason Ester did this was as she stated 'I need to look perfect as the wife to a rich business man'.
"yes, yes honey I'm sure he gets the idea and won't be late again or he will regret it" Michael replied not even looking up from the morning newspaper.
Dune quickly got to work on macking the eggs and bacon that his family needed to eat every day. As he was doing this he could hear the sounds of footsteps coming down the stairs. Dune looked up in surprise because the only other person in the house was his step sister, Melisa, and she didn't wake up till 12pm on most days.
"What are you surprised to see me pervert" milisa asked as she pulled a face at him. Dune made a face as well but this was due to her calling him a pervert. The reason she was calling him a pervert for the last week was because she walked into the bathroom while he was showering, then got angry at him because he didn't lock the door. she went crying to her mom and and that resulted in an extremely bad scolding for Dune.
"Actually I am, what happened is the world ending" Dune mocked.
"No, actually my amazing daughter is going to college exams today" Ester proudly exclaimed, missing the mocking.
"Oh that's today, good luck sweety" Michael said, as he gave her a kiss on the cheek before going back to the newsletter.
"Thanks daddy" she replied. Sweet as ever to her human wallet.
Dune finally got the eggs done, he then buttered the toast and put them on three plates with the bacon. Dune would eat later after he was finished with more of the work around the house. He then placed the three plates on the table. "ok I will be going and getting cleaned up before I finish the rest of the house work" Dune said before quickly escaping the hell hole that is his family.
As dune walked into his room he made sure to lock the door stating l "wouldn't want a repeat of that happening again". He the walked further into his room removing his clothes and looking at himself in the mirror. Dune was an above average looking guy, 20 years old with light yellow hair, a messy short beard and bright blue eyes. The only downside he could see with his body was his muscles, which were not small by any standards due to him doing a lot of house work. He just didn't think they were that impressive
You might be wondering why Dune does all the work since his father is rich. Well it has to do with his step mom and sister. When the first moved into the house they saw Dune as an obstacle to his fathers money, as he is was the sole beneficiary of his riches if his dad died. They hatched many plans to get him on his dad's bad side and have even stated on many occasions that if it was possible, and they wouldn't get caught, they would have had him killed. Dune actually suspects that Ester was the reason his mom disappeared, but couldn't prove it.
The plan that eventually worked was when they set up Dune to make it look like he had been abusing Melisa. When. his dad found out he flew into a rage and beat Dune pretty bad. He then went and took him of his will stating that he did not raise a child who would bully anyone weaker then him.

Dune walked back towords the house drenched in sweat as flys buzzed around his face. As he was swatting the flys away he looked at the time. "Holy shit, it's already 10 how did the time fly by. If I don't hurry I'll miss the event and if that happens my luck will never change.
Dune hurried back to his room where he had stashed the Diving equipment. on the way there he grabbed a protein bar so that he could at least have some food in him. He didn't worry about getting caught because his dad hasn't noticed it is missing yet and no one is home anyway. He locked the door as he walked into his room and reached under his bed, pulling out the Diving equipment. Dune let's out a wistful sigh as he does everytime he lays eyes on the VR set. 'Even if the old man has been terrible for a while now he sure knows how to make technology" he stated to himself.
"one day I'm gonna be an amazing creator and creat something that will blow this away. Maybe that dad will love me like he used to" Dune vows. He then post the equipment on like a professional, anyone watching would have been speechless with the smooth and efficient way he put the VR set on. Before putting the headset on Dune layed down on his bed like he does everytime.
As the headset goes on all outside sounds and feelings are cut off and Dune starts booting up the software. As the screen turns on the text that always brightens up Dune's day appears.
