But apart from everything, he would save her this time, even in the exchange of his life. If he could not, he would die together with her.
Slowly, Steven hold her little hand in his large calloused palms. Her index finger moved a little. She seemed to be in deep slumber.
'But the question is, why did you ask to save your child when you're not pregnant at all?'
'Why did the scene seem so much alike of the accident happened on another timeline, that's also two years later from now!'
'Thankfully, this time, Paul managed to hit the break in time and your legs are spared.'
'Let the world go to hell, I won't let anything bad happen to you. Until my eyes recover, thousands of eyes in my place would be watching you over.'
'Let them protect whatever they want. Be it the money, the wealth, the secrets or the person beside them. I will be here to protect you.'
'I won't leave you here. Not anymore.'
'Now wherever you go, even if it's the end of the world, I will follow you there.'
'Be with me. Choose me to choose life.'
'Mark my words. You will be mine.'
As the mood inside of the private VIP cabin started to become heavy, suddenly her breathing sounded a little different.
Steven loosened his hands a little. He could not see anything clearly, but he could sense that her breathing had became shaky.
He did not understand what happened. According to doctors she had deep fatigue and had been given sedatives. If not for anything serious, she should not had be woken up. Then it must be some kind of strong discomfort that she was facing. But what could be that? Doctors had clearly said that there was not anything wrong with her body. Then what made her shake like this!
By the time Steven almost rang the bell to call doctors, a faint voice came from the bed. It seemed like Mantisha was mumbling something which he could not understand at all. Her voice sounded as light as a feather and the slight murmurs were hard to listen. But it were to be if noticed attentively, a trace of deep sorrow could be found in it.
Furrowing his brows, Steven let her hands go and leaned over her face to listen what was she saying.
"You told me... There's only me... Then why?"
"Take my life... Let me reunite..."
"Save them..."
At this time, her body started to shake violently. Though he could not see still he could sense her sweating all over. Grabbing the sheets near her hands, she clenched her fists hard.
Steven's frown deepened. Her words, this time really making him suspicious.
'Is she suffering from nightmares?'
'Is the fatigue due to this reason?'
Then... If he was not wrong... A striking thought appeared in his mind that made his heart jump.
'Then, could it be... Is she... also reincarnated?'
Steven's heart trembled. If it was true then, her reactions after seeing him for the first and second time made sense. But on the other hand, it seemed like she was in pain, some kind of serious pain every time she saw him.
The lines she was saying, were some of the last words they shared together, or the last words of her when she was on the gunpoint, before she took the bullets. He could not forget those clips taken out from the dash cam footage of her car.
He listened and watched her expression, her last words again and again for almost four decades.
Before her last breath, she prayed to god to reunite her with the persons she lost, or failed to protect.
She said with utmost despair, if only she could go back in the time, she would not trust anybody who would not deserve her.
Her death was like a sacrifice that she made foolishly. Even with her last breath, she wanted him to be happy with Lilian. She wanted no more blood to save something her grandfather was protecting with her life.
He spend all his life to find out what were they hiding for so long. But the key of that secret was long gone with Pranab, Mantisha's grandfather's murder, and Mantisha never said anything to anybody even after being kidnapped, brutally tortured, cutting off her limbs or several times being almost killed. She had only told him that if 'that' went into the wrong hands, she could never answer her ancestors in heaven and a large number of people and their sentiments would come into stake.
But that burden was too much to her. She carried that alone, lost her beloved ones, her dignity, her pride and atlast, her life.
If it were to be true, if she really was also reborn into her past self, and still couldn't remember anything clearly. If only the memories of that life were making her suffer like this in her dreams and making her miserable infront of those people close to hers, then it would be too bad if she remembered everything. That would made her more vulnerable, or worse, crazy.
And in any circumstances, he could not allow to do that. She had to be watched. She had to be stay close to him.
Steven leaned over came near her ear. He started cooing words, soothing her nerves, making her frown lightened. With his gentle strokes on her head, the tension in her mind started disappearing visibly as her nerves became relaxed. With the effect of sedatives, she again went into deep slumber.
A light sigh came out of Steven's mouth as his head started forming diffrent kinds of ideas to make her stay.
"Manman, you won't say no to a vulnerable, blind person, right?"
