Chapter 20 - Stop Staring at Me Like That, It's Creepy

Steven continued to look at her face. His glower was becoming more intense with every passing seconds.

Mantisha became more oppressed under his intense stare. She felt that the situation becoming a little awkward to her.

"Ah.. umm.. Stop staring at me like that." Mantisha spoke out of the blue.

Steven became amused instantly. Her 180° mood swing was something totally new for him. However, his expression did not budge for a second.

"Being stared like this... It's kind of creepy, you know." Mantisha bit her tongue out of embarrassment.

'Is this a staring competition? Why is not he saying something! His expression seems somewhat different too. How come a person's gaze can be so blank in an instance.' She became annoyed under his blank gaze now. 'He doesn't need to stare at a stranger like this nah!'

"Wah!" A shrill voice came towards the door. Mantisha turned to that direction only to see two young ladies dressed in an excessive manner came towards her. She could see Jenifer also behind them. But she seemed to be somewhat shy, or embarrassed to come in front.

Steven did not move or turned his gaze. He continued to look at the girl in front of him like they were the only one in the entire universe.

Lily took the lead to come in front while Daisy and Jenifer followed her behind. Their high heels clicking on the tiles of the floor, and their overly powdered face with thick make up could cause a sense of dissatisfaction to Mantisha. But she was not the person to judge anyone by their appearance. Still, she could feel their hostility towards her.

Mantisha was puzzled, she thought that she did not offend anyone. Then why was these ladies looking at her with such vengeful eyes.

"Are you talking to me? Miss..." She politely asked them. But in return she just heard their disdainful sneers.

"You want to know us? Are you worthy?" Lily said with a piercing tone.

"You want to pretend that you don't even know me? You should be an actress. You could perform better than me." Eying Steven once, Daisy said in a harsh tone. She was one of the blooming actresses who got best rookie award last year. In a popular drama, she was casted as the second lead this year, which brought her more popularity. Not to mention, in numerous magazine covers she had appeared, which boosted her modelling career. And this girl said who was she!

"There should be a limit of pretending." This time Jenifer said with some confidence. She was a college girl and an adopted daughter of a noble, she was quite afraid of Mantisha's background earlier to argue. But with Daisy and Lily here, Mantisha was cornered. So she also started barking with them.

Mantisha was disgusted, just who were these ladies! Did they come here just for insulting her? 'Why do people love to create trouble so much!' She thought.

By their continuous taunts and reases, Mantisha was fuming with anger. She could sense the known fear was covering her chest, her heart was beating fast as she could feel the overwhelming panic was engulfing her.

"Acting all innocent while facing competent men." Lily scolded her again while taking a look to Steven. She thought by doing this, she was taking his side. He was so quiet that everybody could assume his dissatisfaction towards Mantisha. Nobody noticed he clenched his hands so hard that the veins were popping out.

Lily still remembered the way Mantisha talked to Albert. How could she dare to insult Young Master Albert like that! He was the dream man of every lady of country A.

'No I can not cower over these comments. They don't know me, nor do I. I must talk back. Otherwise, I would be the one crying after a while. I must retort before they become anymore harsh.' She gulped down to calm the surging pressure was forming inside her stomach. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Seeing her silent and calm demeanor, Lily cursed her again, "Hehh... Look at her acting all cool way. A pretentious bi*ch."

Steven could not take that anymore. He turned towards them with a raging fire in him. Just when he went to open his mouth, he heard her saying something in a orderly, elegant way.

"Miss 'known to everybody', I apologise for not knowing you. I am really not very sharp, I even forget the things I learn. I am still confuse about some of those I learned beforehand. Can you please remind me with the facts that I forgot." Mantisha replied in a voice that could be considered gentle and innocent.

Daisy blinked in confusion. She wondered what was that girl planning now.

"Do you know Sir Richard Feynman's IQ level?" Mantisha asked without waiting for her response.

"Huhh!" Daisy asked in bewilderment.

"Who was the founding pharaoh of ancient Egypt's 19th Dynasty?"

"..."

"How many moons does Saturn have?"

"..."

"Name of the first foreign language film got Academy Award for Best International Feature Film?"

*Silence*

"When did The Glorious Revolution took place?"

"Who was the husband of Nefertari Meritmut?"

"When is someone prescribed with Streptomycin?"

"Explanation of Law of Conservation of Mass?"

"Formula of making Sulphuric Acid?"

Daisy: "..."

Lily: "..."

Jenifer: "..."

Steven: "..."

"Hahh" A disdainful sneer could be heard.

"Looks like I am not the only pretentious here." Mantisha smiled sinisterly. "Such things were known by almost every middle or high schoolers. I wonder how much Miss..." She half pointed her finger towards Daisy and said nothing more.

Daisy got so angry that she almost choked on her own saliva. Her face was flushing with anger as she lost her words.

Jenifer thought it would be right to stay silent here. She did not want to have another blow.

Lily also was stunned, she had read some of these things in school but she had completely forgotten the answers by now.

"By the way," Mantisha turned to look at Lily and then she said, "I thought in this party only nobles, Mr. Adi Roy's close ones, his friends and families, celebrities, and people from upper class are allowed to come. I did not assume that such an outrageous lady would barge in."
