The visit to the pack's doctor actually made my day very memorable.
Firstly, I saw the pack's surroundings. The beautiful trees, houses, flowers, and environment, in general, were extremely beautified with the number of people scattered around doing their thing.
As we (I, Damien, Claire, and Scarlett, whom we met in the hallway and then decided to follow us) moved from place to place, the people around kept bowing in respect and saying the word Alpha before continuing in their previous engagement.
The gesture made me feel like I'm stuck in some ancient society and I loved it.
But this place is nothing close to ancient, with the terrace of some houses, the settings of their courtyard, the plan of the houses, the cars that littered the environment, you'd be thinking you are in an actual society or rich community, not that it's not actual though, it's just filled with half human half wolf.
I'm still wondering how they got these large amounts of land all to themselves.
On getting to the 'hospital', like it was actually built like a mini-hospital, two stories, elegant and named Bane Hospital. With the way Damien said the whole 'pack doctor's a witch kind of thing', I had painted a mental image of a cave, filled with different special herbs that give off both nice and awful scents but I'm met with the exact opposite.
Well, this town has really destroyed anything called 'perfect mental image, for me as everything I thought of is always wrong.
The pack's doctor isn't the only one there, there were tons of other people who according to Scarlett studied Medicine in other to assist the pack's goal in health.
That explanation couldn't be more shocking, like how the hell am I supposed to take in the fact that werewolves also go to school! Common you can't blame me for always thinking of the worst-case scenarios, I never even knew they existed, and now they're liberated!
I made a new friend though, the witch. She also exceeded my expectations by not giving off a dark aura or moving in the air while laughing hysterically at everything, instead, she's a cutie pie who's extremely beautiful and made me feel a little bit under the weather with her beauty.
I got super jealous when Damien was all smiles and friendly with her in my presence and that's how we became friends, the weirdest way ever.
She checked my health status with her super fast technic which entails looking into my eyes and placing a hand on my pulse and then gave me my overall health issue which is nothing bad. I'm a healthy bitch who loves food.
Damien later excused himself though, his eyes glazed over, which is weird as fuck, then he said he'll meet me at the pack house and handed over my security to Scarlett and Claire.
I asked them why his eyes had a mist in them before he left and they told me it's because he was communicating through mind link to either one person or a group of people.
That was exhilarating, intimidating, and super cool at the same time as I wondered how it works.
After leaving the hospital, we went to a very mind-blowing place next. The training ground.
It was an open field that has different sections and locker rooms, which reminds me of high school.
As I was told, it's where werewolves train on a daily basis in other to keep fit and always be prepared for future harm.
It felt more like watching a military match to me from where I was staying, the other side of the tracks.
People listen to commands from a general, fighting each other, running around, and generally being shirtless.
The sight was heavenly.
Apart from when I was in high school and was dating the quarterback jock, I don't think I've ever seen a bunch of guys shirtless and doing push-ups, running, or sparing before, it's one hell of a very drool-worthy sight.
"You better make sure you don't make that kind of expression in front of Damien, else you'll never get out of your room again" Claire cautioned with a grin
"And why's that?"
"You're his mate, eyeing and drooling over other men can be really infuriating to him and since he any kill his pack members, I guess he'll just ground you" she replied and I couldn't help but feel like a little devil with the devious plan that just worked its way into my pretty head.
"Now that's a dangerous expression," Scarlett said with a smirk, almost like she's reading my mind
"Well, it is" I smirked back "are you mated?" I asked out of curiosity
"Nah, I'm not very kin on mates and all, I prefer being single and not bonded to anyone in an unexplainable attraction," she said as we moved to a different section of the training ground
"Well, cool," I said not knowing what else to say since I'm not really familiar with the term mate and that made her laugh
"Why the laughter?"
"Your face seems like you have a different expression for different scenarios in your head," she said smiling
"I guess, you're a face reader"
"Well, yours is very easy to read" Claire completed and I glared at her.
The sight in front of me really shocked me. Kids, young children who can't be more than the age of ten holdings and rolling themselves on the floor, basically fighting. I would have thought they were really fighting themselves with the intensity of their actions if not because we are still on the training ground and I don't think personal fights are allowed
"This is illegal! You allow kids to fight themselves like that!" I exclaimed pointing to the children
"What's wrong" Claire questioned as if she doesn't see anything wrong with it
"Are you really saying what's wrong? What if they injure themselves, they are too young for that!"
"In this pack, no one is too young or too weak, as long as you're over the age of 5, male or female, you are entitled to training," Scarlett said and with the way my eyes popped out, I guess I'm looking like a mashed potato
"Female, 5 years, you've gotta be kidding me," I said not ready to believe the absurdity of her statement
"Layla, it seems you're forgetting the fact that we're talking about werewolves here and not humans," Claire said
"And so what?! Age five is too small common!"
"Age 5 is when werewolves wolves show up for the first time Layla, and fighting hard against their body and mind is the only way to tame it, uncontrolled wolves may end up being a bad thing to everyone as they can be bloody and very dangerous, ready to kill at the slight sense of blood around, that's why we allow them to go mostly physical against each other once they show the sign of being a werewolf" Scarlett explained while Claire kept nodding her head in agreement
"This is some grade ten fucked up shit," I said as we moved closer to the children who stopped and bowed in respect before continuing their fight
"Shhh, no cursing around the kids" Claire warmed and I gave her the 'are you kidding me' look
"You mean the kids that can already fight like that," I said pointing to the set who were throwing themselves on the floor repeatedly and grinning like maniacs in victory
"Still, they're kids Layla"
"Whatever" I replied rolling my eyes
But my action stopped totally as I saw in slow motion the image in front of me.
June was in a gym suit, wiping her face with a towel and smiling at Rebecca as they walked opposite us.
I had no control over my legs as they ran over to them in annoyance.
It was like I was watching a cruel movie, tension and slow motions every part of the way, muffled sounds as the only thing I could hear were the words in my head
'What the freaking fuck is going on here!'
