I slip my hand up Sol's shirt as I inspected him for any signs of injury. He moans in his sleep before clinging tighter to me as I let his shirt fall back down.
There had been a distinct smell of blood in the air on my way up. I hadn't been too worried about bumping into any vampires aside from Darryl because it was close to daybreak, but the scent made me worry for Sol.
I hug him a little tighter, snuggling my cheek against his hair as I breathed in the citrusy scent of oranges. I was thankful that the reality of the moment was different from what I had imagined, making me hold him a little tighter as I sigh in relieve.
Sol groans and pushes me away in return, although his hand remains clutching onto my shirt. I chuckle to myself, stroking his back gently the way I always imagined. I then kiss his forehead lightly before shifting in my seat.
