Chapter 3 - Exposing a Scheme

"You can trust me, and your parents, and almost everyone other than a few select people."

"But..."

"No buts, this world is a wonderful place. We just had the misfortune of meeting and having the lowest of the low close to us."

She sighed still looking a little down so I decided to help cheer her up.

"Wanna have some fun?"

She immediately brightens up, "Sure!" That's Ashlyn for you.

I smirk before leading her back down to where Abbie was utterly destroying Ashlyn's image with underlying messages. She may be experienced in acting as a pure girl, but I had 5 extra years of experience of tearing down her mask from when I first understood her true character. She was too naive if she thought she was going to get away with this.

"It really isn't elder sister's fault. She is probably just having cold feet or something. She isn't just going to leave Brother-in-law on their wedding day."

She seemed to be reassuring everyone on the surface, but she was actually just showing her disdain and chiding Ashlyn for doing this. I turn over to see Ashlyn's mood down again and hold her hand to show her I was there for her. Let's do this.

"I thought she told you of her decision Abbie, so why are you misleading the crowd?" I don't give her any face and embarrass her. "Why don't you tell everyone your decision, Ashlyn?"

She addresses Henry as she says, "I know you still love Sophia, Henry. If I'm completely honest, I don't think I love you that way either. So let's not enter this loveless marriage. I mean, what if Sophia comes back? Who would you really choose?"

He opens his mouth to answer but she cuts him off first, "The real answer."
